[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Chennai Sangamam 2008 (The festival of Chennai) - the second of its kind - featured folk music and dance from all over Tamil Nadu, India. One hundred venues from city squares, parks, beaches, railway stations, bus terminals, markets, temples and churches were used. There were performances of every kind from Indian classical music to folk music, jazz, western classical, rock, rap, folk dances, art shows and screenings of film classics. Seven hundred artistes of every known Tamil folk form performed at the week long carnival. Food and craft stalls, fireworks at the start and finish, a film star nite to represent the city's film industry – there was something for everyone.

This was one of the folk dances known as the 'stick dance'.

Hi Sridhar,
Exciting subject matter. A couple of points. First for such a dramatic event I think the lighting is too washed out, it needs to be more dramatic with the focus on the pair in the centre of the action. Next thing is they look too static, would it have been possible to shoot at a slower shutter speed to get movement into the capture, and finally, I think you could consider cropping out the boxes and the shadow on the left of frame, I find that part of the frame unnecessary and distracting and finally it would have been good to see the feet of the two protagonists. Other than that, good stuff.
I've posted a workshop for you to consider.
All the best my friend
Peter
