| Snake worship is common in India particularly in South India and Bengal in the month of Ashada ( June-July). In villages people visit snake-pits , offer milk and worship. In urban areas, in apartments people have a small room called Pooja Room (Room for worshipping). Some of them keep statutes of snakes and offer worship. On both side you can see Vilakkus (Oil lambs with gingili oil). On the bottom camphor is lighted as a part of the worship. This photo was taken in one such dark worshipping room. |
