Pushkar Fair

Photographer's Note

Hello friends,

I shoot this auspicious moment at the 3rd week of November when I visited Pushkar Fair in Rajasthan.

Pushkar Sarovar (Lake) is located in the town of Pushkar in Ajmer district of the Rajasthan state of western India. It is a sacred lake of the Hindus. The Pushkar Lake finds mention on coins as early as the 4th century BC.

Pushkar Lake is surrounded by 52 bathing ghats (a series of steps leading to the lake), where pilgrims throng in large numbers to take a sacred bath, especially around Kartik Poornima (October–November) when the Pushkar Fair is held. Over 500 Hindu temples are situated around the lake.

During the Kartik Poornima day would be highly auspicious. International Business Times has identified Pushkar as one of the ten most religious places in the world and one of the five sacred pilgrimage places for the Hindus, in India.

I am lucky and got a chance to visit Pushkar at the time of Kartik Purnima.

The afternoon light enhanced the details we see on the scene, verysharp elements, especially the many people gathered along the lake, and I can actually count each one.
Picture space allocated superbly, with the lower third on water, just by the "rule".
