Located at a distance of 42 kilometers from Jaisalmer, Sam Sand Dunes is the closest point to witness the total sandy desert. Here, one can also see the patterns and motifs created by the shifting sands and air.

3km long, 1km wide and as much as half a kilometer high, the dunes are as treacherous as they are scenic. If you opt for a camel ride, stay very close to your raika (guide) as only he can manoeuvre you through the quicksand, which has sucked many an unwary goat to its gruesome death.

Far out in the distance, on the crest of a dune, a conversation was taking place. Man & Beast, Master & pet....Camel & Raika (camel breeders from the most arid zone of Rajasthan).

F length = 432 mm

Hi Angshu, beautiful view, with an excellent POV, shaping, timing and quality too.
thanks, ciao

Angshuman

This very well done !
I like the placement of the subject, left of the middel
Also the head of the othercamel, like it is coming out of the sand.
Good travel-shot

Hello Angshu,
On peut deviner que cette conversation semble tourner autour d’une direction à prendre avec l’attitude de cette personne au bras tendu,
Très bonne position des sujets dans ton cadrage,
Bien à toi et à bientôt,
Robert

It is a great photo, very well composed and with beautiful colours. The scene is fantastic and we can almost hear what the guide is talking about! Well done.
Antonio

Olá Angshu,

It is a good capture of an interesting and beautiful place.
The composition and the colours of sand dunes are great.

Best greetings,
Filipe

nice framing, but the quality is a little just; I can not explain what you have to do for a better result. I also thing that the second camel is not necessary, so in a WS I put it away...

Hi Angshu,
seems quite an intruiging but univiting place with the hot sun and all that sand. Beautiful composition and colours. Great picture.

Hi Angshumanda,
This is FANTASTIC! a TRUE gem! I LOVED the framing, the moment is spot on. What stopped you from posting this so long?
Regards,
Shaeri

A great panoramic shot of this moment. I like the way youve portrayed the vast space of the desert. Also all the footprint patterns are really interesting.

Dave

Very nice scene, with the camel, its two riders and the third personage perfectly slhouetted on top of the dune.

All the best,

Emmanuel

Hi Angshuman,
nice panoramic image from the desert. Unusual place. Good composition and pleasant warm colours. Well done photo.
Gr., Aleksander

Well, Angshu, you found a story there in the distance, in attractive light. Regards, Daniel

The title is perfect. A wonderful image, beautiful light, wonderful depth, incredible dune. Well done.
Best wishes,
Achim

Hi Angshu. You have a good eye for detail, and good long lens to catch it ;-). I like the way you cropped this shot, the panorama suits the scene well. Good colours and details for such a long shot also. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Angshuman

Good sharpness, & a smart choice of a wide angled, panoramic format. Superb colour, framing, & contrast; and aptly titled. Tfs!

You have composed this well with the action perfectly placed on a third; we want to be party to the conversation. :) We can see these dunes are well used by all the foot prints. The long focal length of your lens came in very handy. Good work
Kath

hi angshu,
excellent composition. the placement of the camel and the person in front is nice with a long curved edge on the sand. tfs.

Hi Angshu
Very nice composition, the main subject is locates in a strong point of the frame.
Very interesting indeed.
Best regards.

Olá Angshu, not far from my last post before I went to my trip... ;-) Very nice panoramic format with a good placement of the conversation's sillouette against the sky. I enjoy a lot that stretched arm, problably the best detail here. What is also interesting is that this 'non virgin at all' dune has an interesting pattern from all the foot prints that stand out thanks to a good lighting.
Best regards,
ricardo

Hi Angshu,
A simple AND efficient compo, with good choice of semi panoramic format for this relatively flattish landscape, and well oplaced camel and discussing people (tourists on the camel?) Nice smooth sky and good sand textures...
Hello from Bangaloru!
Laurent

Hi Angshu.
Belle prise au 432 mm. J'aime cette image du désert avec la conversation de voyageurs sur leur chameau et d'un guide qui leur indique la direction. Belle lumière sur le sable.
Jacques

Hello Angshu,
Appealing simplicity!
Excellent composition, interesting lines in the landscape and the desert colours are well recorded...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Angshuman,
Good panoramic and asymmetric setting in this so peculiar and funny scene.
The light and the shades on the sand of the dunes it has a nice graphism and a good sensation of relief and depth of image.
It is a very attractive photo at sight, in a nice work.
Best regards,
Josep

Hi Angshuman,

The presence of the camel and of the people has an effect of scale. The point view is giving depth to the photo. The light is giving a good contrast to the colors. This critique is done from my hotel in Cuba. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Hello Angshu. The subjects pl;aced along the horizon is so dramatic. The simplicity and contrast of the fg texture is just amazing. Stunning against the blue sky. Thanks for sharing and best regards. Jusni

Hi Angshman,
Nice texture and forms in the sand dune. Good placement of the people ... quite balance actually. Good sharpness and contrast. I like the warm cast from the sun. Well captured and composed. Tfs

That's what I don't like in Sam Dunes : the footprints. What kind of desert is that ???
But you made an interesting shot, presenting the camel and the people almost like a silhouette. And finally, in that case, the foorprints produce graphi impact, then...
Stéphane

Ola Angshuman ,
Gosto muito deste tipo de fotos do deserto com camelos e turistas , gostei muito das personagens na linha do horizonte , bom enquadramento da foto , parabéns!!!
Um abraço Gonçalo

hello Angshu,
no need to tell that I like the shot :) smart idea to use the panoramic format and put the "conversation" o9n the very edge, for me it emphasised the vastness of the desert, although I have to agree with Stéphane that the dense footprints spoil a little the mood of quiet desert. other than that - excellent observation, I like it a lot.

with best regards,
Kristine

Hello Angshu
The evening light creates a beautiful atmosphere and I like the pose of the 'raika', probably showing or explaining something to the tourists. Good choice of framing and colors well rendered.
Cheers

Hi Angshu,
Tremendous image. You can even feel the loneliness atmosphere of it. High quality, pal!

Hi Angshuman
I like the composition and the idea of the photograph. I guess these on the camel ask about the road ;). Nice light.
Regards

Hi my friend, just great photo with good composition, light and colors! Only a little bit mode details is missing.

TFS and regards,
Phil

Hello Angshuman.
I like a lot your composition and the mood created by the conversation...simple and beautiful piece of daily life. But I am kind of suprised of a certain lack of quality of the picture itself, the textures and lack of details...it's a bit like there is no precise focus and things seem very slighly blurred...maybe it is due the focal length...I have not enough experience to point out what it could be.

Wish you a lovely weekend
Kind regards
Michèle
