Pushkar at the Lake Photo

Photographer’s Note

Pushkar is a pilgrim town with 400 temples and 52 ghats (stairs leading to the water). The holy lake was created when a lotus flower fell from the hands of Brahma the Creator.
Pushkar is also the site of the annual camel/cattle fair held around November.

Hi Wanda!

At first look, I was sure it was a shot from Varanasi; forgive me, I didn't read the title first... :-P)

I really like this one, and by the angle you have catch it, I think you were at the hotel. The light is good, you have some reflection of the people on the lake and the part of the city you have framed is crammed with nice things to look at.

I feel the compression of the perspective, so you must have been close to the maximum of your 300mm. Another detail that catch my attention is the "hand-made" scaffolding, which provides an exotic and timeless perception.

Hello Wanda! There is so much to see in this picture and I can even recognize some cows waiting for their holy bath maybe ... or just standing there enjoying the sun. A beautiful place telling stories, a world unknown to me, just waiting to be discovered. Beautiful architecture, everything fits together, like a puzzle ... the concept of "population density" and "crowded" immediately come to mind when looking at this photo, the level of detail is amazing, like a SimCity :) people look so tiny against the city, and their clothes add a nice colour accent to this sun-bleached scene. great shot, my compliments.

Dear Wanda
Did look like Benaras at first glance with the houses and steps rising steeply above the water. The low light adds a kind of romanticism to this place. The green domes of the mosque doesn't fit in there, they attract the eyes too much with their colour, nothing within your powers to do anything about that though. The compression due to the zoom accentuates the effect of clutter..different work from this oft photographed place
