Photographer’s Note

Among thousands of Indian gods and divinities, Vishnu is certainly one of the most well-know in western world, along with Brahma and Shiva.

It's easy to understand, as this trio is a concept in Hinduism "in which the cosmic functions of creation, maintenance, and destruction are personified by the forms of Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the transformer".

Vishnu is described as having the divine colour of clouds.

I was just happy to have his blue face aligned with the blue doorways.

Hello André,

Encore un superbe portrait. La prise de vue manque peut-être de luminosité mais elle ne manque pas de spontanéité et de couleurs. Effectivement, c'est un heureux hasard ou un habile placement du photographe qui a permis de centrer la tête bleue entre les portails de la même couleur.
Excellent bokeh qui centre l'attention sur le sujet mais qui laisse "nettement" apparaître l'arrière plan.
Bravo !

Et tu publies dans le National Geographic sous un pseudo, car je ne t ai pas vu crediter sur les derniers reportages :-)
Je sais, ca fait un peu flatterie, mais je trouve reellement cette photo reussie: le regard direct, le placement avec la flute, la lisibilité avec une faible profondeur de champs laissant quand meme deviner l arriere plan et l antagonisme des couleurs entre le gilet jaune et les tons bleus dans les ombres.

Hi Andre. this is an attractive portrait and a nice cultural document. It looks posed, but artfully posed and the subject fill the frame in a nice way. i like the right use of DoF as well. It's a very Indian and colourful image. Regards kevin

Tu as toujours l'art de dénicher des modèles intéressants et de les décider à poser pour toi. Très réussi (bien sûr!) et j'apprécie beaucoup la luminosité un peu faible qui donne une ambiance particulière à cette belle photo.

Avant d'ouvrir l'image j'étais convaincu de la voir située à Pushkar, où pendant la Camel Mela les enfants , evidemment dans le but de gagner un peu d'argent auprès des pélerins et des touristes, sont déguisés par leurs parents en Shiva, Vishnou, Hanuman
Je constate que çà fonctionne aussi à Udaipur
Très bien rendu

UNe scene qu'on dirait sortie d'un film de chez Disney en version remixee maharajah... je vois que tu trainais encore dehors a des heures ou les honnetes gens prennent la lumiere des ampoules a la place de leurs cailloux a 2.8 ;-)

Waouw ! Quelle photo !
Avec l'escalier derrière, je pense aux plans du film Apocalypse Now quand le bateau arrive dans le décor baroque des troupes occupées par le Colonel KURTZ.
Cerise sur la gâteau, tu as saisi le regard ; on entendrait presque la musique siffler à nos oreilles. Une grande photo sans aucun doute qui mérite un gros carton.
