Kerala - Vizhinjam - Still a fishing village

My previous photo showed how much the former fishing village of Kovalam had turned into a holiday resort.
Barely three kilometers from the tourist beaches you find the authentic fishing village of Vizhinjam.
From Kovalam it‘s a pleasant walk along beaches full of colourful fishing boats but without tourists.

At the edge of the village you will find some mosques while the centre of Vizhinjam is Christian.
It’s remarkable that the gilded statue of Mary and Jesus on the tower of the central ‘Our Lady of Good Voyage Church’ is standing on a blue boat. See picture in the WS.

Much more than Kovalam my visit to Vizhinjam gave me satisfaction. Only on the way back I saw a small group of foreign visitors.
