Photographer's Note

Women in India, specially those from the rural parts are hard workers. You can seem them in fields, in brick kilns, in markets selling different merchandise. But it is in the mountainous villages of Himalayas that they often outnumber the men workers. They are usually married off at a young age and moving to the husband’s home often subjects them to drunken beatings, bearing numerous children and in the midst of all these she must still be able to perform the role of the family’s bread earner!
I do not know what this woman has gone through, she didn’t tell me her life story during the brief acquaintance but I guess her face tells you that life has not been kind to her.
