| The Lad Khan Temple at Aihole dates circa 700 CE. Originally it was used as an assembly and marriage hall. A stone ladder through the roof leads to a small shrine where damaged images of Surya, Vishnu and Shiva can be found. Tiers of sloping stone slabs roof both the hall and the porch, in imitation of timber construction. River goddesses and amorous couples are carved on porch columns. |
