[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Punjab in Hindi means land of five rivers...thats the name of my city where I stay currently.

Punjab is considered as the food bowl of India due to very high food grain production. This all started way back in 1960s when specialsed centres, research facilities and agriculture universities were set up in the state to give a push to the food stock production and which reaped healthy result.
The canal mentioned here along ith various others were created during that time to irrigate the land and the water were taken from one of the fiver rivers to transport it to the interiors of Punjab.
This picture was taken near Ludhiana and this canal which is very wide at some places crosses the city and devides it into two. In the outskirts people use it for fishing and army uses it for training their recruits in swimming and rescue operations.

Beautiful canal view and nice composition.
Your note is also great!
Well done.

Hey Hemant,

A fine documentary yet again. I always enjoy reading your honest (uncopied:>) notes. A fine image too, nicely composed. With the lovely green hue. I`ve read that the waters in Punjab are pretty much polluted - is it true? Well, I`m always interested in your first-hand experiences. :)

See you around.
