No I`m not 5 years at TE,
but I want you to remember what happened tonight five years ago.
Tonight,5 years ago the Iraq war 2 started.

HEY GEORGE W!
DO YOU STILL THINK: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED????
Of course I was not a fan of Saddam Hussein, but I think in the 21st century it must be possible to solve problems in an other way,but what about the actual trouble in Tibet.......
and many other places too.

Photo was taken 8 days later in front of Jama Masjid in Dheli, short before the friday prayers.
I did not feel well among these damonstrants and the mood was everything than nice.I took a few shots, when a member of an Italian Camera team told me I should better leave, because when there will be violence at this demonstration nobody will ask me weather I`m German,British or American....
Later ,back in my guesthouse I met a Dutch Guy who was followed and beaten by some demonstrants.
I`ve never been a fan of Germany`s ex chancelor Gerhard Schröder but I`m still happy about his NO to this war.And I`m proud to be one of these
"OLD EUROPEANS".

No exif data from my old Minolta

some facts:

The invasion led to the quick defeat of the Iraqi military, the flight of President Saddam Hussein, his capture in December, 2003 and his execution in December, 2006. The U.S.-led coalition occupied Iraq and attempted to establish a new democratic government. But shortly after the initial invasion, violence against coalition forces and among various sectarian groups led to asymmetric warfare with the Iraqi insurgency, civil war between many Sunni and Shia Iraqis, and al-Qaeda operations in Iraq.

Estimates of the number of people killed range from over 150,000 to more than 1 million.

over 150,000 to more than 1 million.

The financial cost of the war has been more than £4.5 billion ($9 billion) to the UK,and over $845 billion to the U.S., with the total cost to the U.S. economy estimated at $3 to 5 trillion, stolen fron Us citizens.

By now more than 4000 killed US soldiers.....

a third of the poulation needs help ( food )from international organisations
The unemployment rate is more than 50 %
More than 50.000 beds are missing in hospitals.
The hygienic conditions are incredible.
There are Cholera epedemies.
Many children die because of spoiled water.........................................................

Hallo Andreas!
Frank

Hi Leo, i'm agree with you, and with your image.
good quality, and brilliant POV. but for a time the message is more decisif-
thanks, ciao

hello Andreas
tonight ,I've heard the crazyest information that I've never heard at TV!They were almost saying that the war was a good thing for Irak, thanks to it ,people had found the freedom...Since months and months they are speaking about the tragedy of this country, and just tonight, everything seems to be OK!I don't understand,or mmaybe I'm turning crazy!Anyway,I'm completly agree with you!
Regards.
Pascale

Very interesting shot Leo. It makes for a great historical record. I’m glad you weren’t hurt or attacked while like the other fellow you mentioned.

In your note you mention how much this war has cost in terms of money. Honestly, who cares? I’m sick of hearing how much it cost in terms of money. The real price is lives lost and lives ruined. How many US military servicemen and women come home with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)? How many families have been affected by this war (In Iraq and around the world)? How many children have lost a parent? How much suffering? These things can never be measured in terms of a number. There will always be casualties in war (right or wrong) but these are the things we should focus on, not money.

I’ve stopped thinking about whether this war was the right thing to do or not. It doesn’t matter anymore. The fact is Iraq is a mess right now. The only question we have to answer now is: What should/can we do to fix it? Unfortunately I don’t think anyone knows the answer to that question.

Great post Leo, and please pardon my ramblings :-)

Thanks for remembering us these hard facts !
Powerful image with a strong message .

Hallo Andreas,

Nice composition You could find lot of political rallies in Delhi addressing local or International issues. These days Tibet is on top with Tibetans demonstrating at Janter Mantar.

Hi Andrea,
Please speak about this sad remembrance. I also, I was not one fan of Chirac, but I participated in demonstrations against the war and I am happy that France and this " old Europe " condemned this intervention.
It is not your best photo technically, but it is the photo which it was necessary to publish and I thank you for making it with also this excellent note.
Friendly
Diane
