[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Weddings in India are often held on days determined to be auspicious, and one of the days we were staying in Jaipur happened to be one of them. So whenever we walked out of our B&B (whose green gate is visible on the left) that afternoon, we would find the street filled with people parading for a wedding. The groom would ride a white horse (see the WS), and sometimes a portable generator would follow behind to provide power for strings of lights.

The group of women seen here in their best saris were walking and chatting behind the groom.

Yesterday, Jaipur was subjected to a vicious and cowardly terrorist attack, which at last report killed over 80 people. I am posting this picture today to express solidarity and sympathy with Jaipur, and to show a scene of a happier occasion in that city.

Hi Dan!

These are the colours, that only India can offer! The whole rainbow on those beautiful, fancy dresses! Great, joyful daily life scene, nicely framed and composed, besides the excellent light managment! Congratulations!

hello Dan,
it's getting very, very scary to turn on the news every morning - hurricanes and earthquakes, and if that's not enough, there are idiots with so little brain that they have enough room in their heads for such stupidity as what happened in Jaipur.
and I wholeheartedly support you in presenting this photo as a response to the attack, let the colours be the only thing that explodes. I like a lot the vibrant reds and blues, elegant pink and warm yellow - India at it's best ;)

with kind regards,
Kristine

Wonderful, brilliant colors, Dan. The light is beautiful, excellent contrast in the bright sunlight and marvelous detail. A really good note, too, and I agree wholeheartedly. Very well done and bravo for your fine note! Many thanks and kindest wishes,
Shelly

Hello Dan,

A scene from 'Bride and Punishment!' Well composed and featuring brilliant colors, and resolution. Your D70 has served you well in this image.

I did not know about the tragedy in Jaipur, and I echo your sentiments.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Wonderful colourful scene of the wedding guests resplendent in their finery. Together with the WS it is an excellent presentation to show a fine tradition. I agree with your sentiments about the troubles in Jaipur and add my thoughts to yours.
