| This photo is taken from the right side of the entrance pavilion. There are at least two features to note: (1) the platform takes the shape of a 16-pointed star; and (2) there are several elephants supporting the platform. Each elephant is slightly different in terms of stance and pose, and is beautifully bejewelled. In Hindu cosmology, the universe is carried on the shoulders of powerful, guardian-elephants. |
