Thiksey, Leh-Ladakh - altitude 3400 m

Thiksey Gompa is a famous Buddhist monastery in the Indus Valley, about 20km east of Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Although a place name here has various spelling in English, the gompa spells "Thiksey" on their site.
We can see also on Google Maps.

I waited for this blue sky for three days, and selected this position to take photos that is not interrupted by electric wires and trees.

Hi Hisashi, wonderful one, with a fantastic sky, excellent timing, POV looking to Thiksey upper part and wonderufl colours.
thanks, ciao

Hello Hisashi,

A great shot, certainly worth waiting for that sky to open up. And about those electric wires...either you use them in your composition or you try to avoid them. Good work. Domo arigato!

Hi Hisashi
This is incredibly beautiful. A great play of the clouds given good depth with the gradient tool (?) and the sharp details of the monastery. A well balanced compo with good perspective and clear sharp details

Hello Hisashi,

You were right to await the blue sky during three days: this cloudy blue sky is superb.
This composition without tree, without electric wires is excellent.

Do you know that you can place this photograph in Google Map while passing by the site : Panoramio

Best Regards
Marc

Hello Hisashi!
Beautiful sky and great colours in your composition!
Nice your point of view!
Perfect clarity!
Best regards!
Lili

An excellent wide angle composition with good FG interest leading up to the monastry. I like the dynamic cloud formation and the contrast achieved thru the use of CPL. There is visible perspective distortion due to the short Focal length, which can be corrected on photoshop.

Regards
Alfred

Hi Hisashi,
Yessssss, superb wide angle effect here using the clouds to create dynamism, great photo subject (it looks lile Lhasa) and thanks to your excellent exposure the photo impact is maximal, especially the vibrant blue sky resulting from the altitude, a very nice image you can be proud of !
Have a nice day JY

Hello Hisashi,
It was certainly worth the effort to look carefully for a fine spot. You've got the little chortens, the mani wall, the hill and the great looking sky, all in one picture.
I only saw Thiksey with a dark sky and few colours. Only for a brief moment when I was up on the roof the sun appeared.
Best wishes,
Gert
