This is a shot of the town of Rudraprayag in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.Named after Lord Shiva (Rudra), Rudraprayag is situated at the holy confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, at a distance of 34 kms. from Srinagar(Garhwal). The meeting of the Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers has a unique beauty of its own and it seems as if two sisters were embracing each other. It is believed that to master the mysteries of music, Narad Muni worshipped Lord Shiva, who appeared in his Rudra Avtaar (incarnation) to bless Narad. The Shiva and Jagdamba temples are of great religious importance.

Till recently, Rudraprayag was a part of district Chamoli and Tehri. In 1997, the Kedarnath Valley and parts of district Tehri & Pauri were conjoined to form Rudraprayag as a new district.

Apart from having its own attraction of being a holy seat and a tourist place, this town also marks the point from where the roads of two of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations in Garhwal- Kedarnath, and Badrinath bifurcate.

It was my dream to travel this part of the country which has a history of thousands of years behind it...a land of heavenly beauties travelled and explored since long by pilgrims and monks. I went for a two day tour to this wonderful land, to have a feel of it. It just marks a beginning of a bondage between me and this dream destination.

Yes it is the land of the Gods. Or as they call it "Dev bhumi".
Its an irony that even in devbhumi one finds more made made structures than god made ones.
Nice saturated colors here. However, i would have wanted u to compose the frame keeping the yellow building on the left outside.
I tried a WS. Tell me is it worth it.

Nabarun

hi Sagar

Been quite a while since your last post. Nice to see you back again.

I suppose the river water level is high due to heavy rainfall and the flow looks to be swift judging from the waves and swirl. Interesting to see clusters of houses on both sides of the riverbank, linked by a steel bridge.

Life must be tough in places like these. Good to share such photo with us.

tfs, bill

dear Sagarneel,
a very interesting view of the town sandwiched by the mountain and the river.
perhaps in this severe circumstance of the nature, people imagined lots of stories of the gods. both the power and the mercy of the nature inspired those into the people's mind.
the color of river water is impressive to my eyes.
thank you,
Akihisa

hello sagarneel

long time, no see, aye!? :) well i've been away from the site for some time too. a nice place you are introducing us to here. an interesting layout for the town sitting right on the river surrounded by lushly green slopes. not sure about your choice of the light (and day-time) here though. i feel, late evening/early morning would have worked better to bring out detail and color.

warm regards,
kristaps

The river here is like a raging torrent and seems very close to the buildings. You had an excellent POV to show the town and how it is surrounded by the mountains.

This is a good panoramic view of the town. I like the hilly houses here and the way they are situated!.. and that bridge in the background , looks amazing.
Only the sky wasnt pretty enough to be photographed ;-)

Hi Sagarneel,

Good point of view on this city with mountainside. This tumultuous water gives a good effect of movement in the image. Good clearness which enables us to appreciate the details. Good photograph and thank you Sagarneel for the note.

With all my friendships and with soon,

Hi Sagarneel,
A lovely view of that little town perched on the green and steep slope of the mountain, with the turbulent water rushing for the sacred Ganga at its feet. Despite the light looking like not the best (the whole valley was in the shadow, right?), you managed getting a nice clarity and good colours. The only thing less good technically is the OE on the clouds, but that looks like a difficult thing to avoid.
Regards, José.

Hello Sagar,

A very intersting note and photo. A good compostion with a FG, the incurve river and the coloured houses with arise well in the vegetation of the hill.
Best regards,
Roger

Very BEAUTIFULLY Captured!!!
