hello Patrice,
love this photo, the Escher-esque stairs are fascinating and the single human figure adds a great accent. I like a lot the B&W approach, it certainly emphasises angles and shapes that might disappear in the colour version. excellent work, goes to my favourites.
best,
Kristine

Hi Patrice,
Superb graphical composition. Wise decision to have this image converted into B&W as the different patterns and external shapes are more contrasted.
Midtones are a bit dark, so are the shadows.

Maria

Outstanding POV, Patrice.
The B&W siuts the mood of the shot.
Your subject seems to be contemplating on some issues....as to why are you clicking him in Black and white, where as you see the whole of the world in colours!!
Take care,
Rajeev

Superbe n&b Patrice.

Patrice,
A nice combination of B&W graphicisim - and a little dash of humanity.
But of course - the camera always lies!

Bonsoir Patrice,

Corinne

Hi Patrice,
There is a great graphism in your photo. You can make at least 2 photos from this beautiful B&W shot.
Stairs, lost in darkness step by step, and reverse triangle at the bottom can be a photo itself without that man! Texture on the wall and prints on it are amazing.
Photo has a 3D structure; stairs in the background gives a horizontal dimension behind the man and the dark stairs gives a vertical dimension.
Figure sits exactly at the right place, not in the so middle, not in the so edge...
Very well seen and captured,
Best,
Burcu

Excellently captured - the meditation mood with the cold, graphical elements criscrossing and intertwining. Very good work!

Like this photo, only thing - small triangle in front of the guy do not give opportunity to concentrate on his face.. Face also could be little bit lightened..

Salut Patrice,

It's not easy to get graphic pictures in India, I think, but you have done it very successfully here, Patrice. The stones not only have shapes and forms and light and shadow, they have very rich texture. Erratic and unpredictable texture, not all clean and scrubbed, and thus very suited to India. Regards, Ken.

Bonjour Patrice
Beau travail.
A bientôt
Karine

First time, graphics surpass colors, in a photo from Varanasi... And still in the mood of meditation...
One of the most creative presentations i've ever seen from that place of mysticism. Congratulations Patrice,
Deniz

I missed this superb shot. your cadrage is perfect. the interwoven lines surrounding the man create stunning graphics. last but not least, the worn, dirty wall's texture add a lot to the atmosphere.

Bonjour Patrice,
Les apparences... ou les intentions des photographes ! :)
Solitaire ou pas, le résultat est superbe avec cet enchevêtrement de lignes géométriques, inhabituel dans une photo made in India.
Bises,
Marion

Hi Patrice,
The lines of the stairs going in every direction and the man sitting so still people watching makes for a great shot. I like that you have placed him right at the top of the composition and black and white works so well for this shot and its graphic nature.
Best Regards

Varanasi ???
Is this Varanasi ??
Just for the sole uniqueness of your approach to the seriously overplay theme on Varanasi and the dirty waters of Ganga - my sincere thank you, Patrice.

Bonsoir,
Amicalement
Michèle
