Khori is one of those non discreet villages not far from the fringes of Delhi, and like all of them is one at crossroads. Situated very close to Faridabad, one of the industrial hubs near Delhi, Khori is grappling whether it embraces urbanization in the name of 'development' or retain it’s rural and rustic self.

Most of the men are labourers in the numerous construction sites around the belt. A dirty path, runs through the village, with pools of stagnant water, freely roaming cows & buffaloes & curious onlookers as we walked along.

The houses are half brick ones and inside one of the houses, which lined the path, the little brother-sister duo were playing. The door was ajar & I stopped. Coyly they smiled as they looked at me. Part of their house can be seen here with stacked firewood in the corner & the ghara, the utensil for storing water on the top right. In the Workshop is a wider view, which shows the charpai or cot on the left, the bicycle (their father’s) on the right. In front of the firewood is their oven, the chulha.

They attend the only school (that too run in a temporary shed) in the village and they enjoyed it. But the question remains that despite their poverty do they still dream? I, in my heart, do sincerely hope so. Does their innocence die prematurely, faced with the hard realities of their life? I sincerely hope not.

As yet they probably don't realise there is a different life outside their village. They look very happy and pleased of your attention. Both this and the WS are good shots of their daily life showing its simplicity. The light must have been difficult to manage, but there is no over-exposure and plenty of detail in the shadows. Well done
Kath

Hello Angshuman,
A simple and beautiful scene of the smile of these children.
An excellent work with the shade and the light.
An interesting note

Regards
Marc

Angshu, for me, this is ur best shot since I joined TE.
I liked the POV alot- The decision to include the red wall has paid off. This, with the other wall, provides a very b'ful frame for viewing.
Two points- 1) The quality is certainly not the best. 2) Perhaps including the 'Kalash' (that is cut by the top border) may have added some more to the compo.

All in all, a very thoughtful take on village life. Well done sir!

Rgds,
Darpan

Hi Angshu,
A funny scene, taken from inside with the outside visible... Nice elements are : the shiny pot, the stacked wood, and of course the children... nice luminosity too. I may have cropped it to a more square format, removing some of the lower part..
Greetings
Laurent

Hello Angshu.
Cette photo est très belle pour sa composition et la lumière qui vient de la porte. Ces enfants insouciants jouent comme tous les enfants du monde. Il faut espérer qu'ils auront une vie meilleure que celle de leurs parents.

funny portrait and an excellent composition with the pile of wood in the corner,
regards, Gerrit

Children in every where are a nice subject for photography, despite not too clear i can see their honest smiles to your camera. Playing with perfect lighting both nature light and your tool has give a perfect result. An original shot from you Angshu friend, well done and thanks..

Olá Angshu, lovely framing in an original daily life picture. And great exposure control, considering the bright light coming from the outside. I mean, if I planned this one, I would imagine that they would result as very dark silhouettes. It's fun to see the bike in WS, but of course that the children are nicer here. They are an adorable vision and I'm sure they still dream - their smiles tell me so.
Friendly regards,
ricardo
p.s.- now, after written this, I'm feeling the FG too empty and I'm thinking of cropping it...
p.s.1- and now I've read your reply to Laurent. Never mind my words ;-)

Hi Angshuman,
nice scene, fine composition with the kids. I like the game of light and shadows. Good WS also. Well done photos.
Gr., Aleksander

Hi Angshuman,

You did capture well the expression of joy of the children. The subject is well frame. The picture is clear and precise. The light is enhancing the colors. Hopefully, the children will still enjoy life. Have a nice day.

Hi Anshu,
I love the light as it warms the dirt floor and the firewood; it can't haver been easy to manage. Although the color and detail are better here, for some reason the framing in the WS feels more harmonious to me. Great note.

I like your experimentation with lights here Angshu and you sure have done well. The capture is finely timed and nuanced.

Bonjour, cher ami Angshu,
Encore une réussite, cher Angshu, à travers cette composition ! la joie des enfants est communicative et j'aime cette originalité ainsi que la maîtrise des hautes et basses lumières.
Merci, Angshu, de nous faire découvrir de tels moments.
Amitiés.
Philippe

Hi Angshuman,
A very nice scene with both children and his clean smile, in an excellent capture and with a difficult light controlled well.
It is very interesting to see that these children smile and are happy in spite of their poverty, and I also hope that their innocence does not die prematurely, and they obtain a worthy and happy life.
Nice work, my friend.
Best regards,
Josep

Dada, great foto with your signature style. I love it.

Hello Angshu. Neat framing in well controlled lighting. You did well to bring out the detail of the shaded area. Well done and thanks for sharing. Best regards. Jusni

Ola Angshuman ,
Bela foto no interior desta casa com as crianças a brincar a porta , belos tons de verde capturados , gostei muito da luz e dos detalhes dentro da casa as crianças deram bastante alegria a foto , parabéns!!!
Um abraço Gonçalo

Hi Angshu. I’m sure they still dream but I think it’s a whole lot more difficult for them to fore fill those dreams. Wonderful portrait. Beautiful natural smiles. Good timing and compo. Thanks for sharing.
Have a good week, Paul.

Good composition with a nice play with light and shadow. Fortunatly the open door did not provided to much light to wast the shadows in the left corner, there is a nice balance everywhere.

All the best,

Emmanuel

They have lovely expressions and I like the way you have built the image, even if the children are a bit far away - nice light too !
Compliments and best regards,
Cath.
