Sengge La, Zanskar - altitude 5050 m

Mr.Tsering of ponyman and the ponies have a short rest on the top of Sengge La Pass at the altitude 5050 m. It is necessary to get over this pass to go to Lingshed village. These three ponies have accompanied me during the 12 days of a trek in Zanskar.

My PC's HD crashed in the tent at altitude 4300m, of course together with a lot of image data. It was too dark feel.

Hello Hisashi
What an amazing trek this must have been. This photo tells the story of the terrain, the horses and your guide very well. Great sky, Marlene

Hi Hisashi,
What, you took the PC all the way up to 5050m ??? at this altitude it must weigh a ton to carry it ! Nice trek image where the image dynamic of the 5D has been of great help here considering the details you can render facing the sun brightened clouds.
Have a nice day jY

It is amazing.
The clouds are very dramatic and so are the sharp mountains. Very exotic, and interesting subject.

Hello Hisashi
Fascinating image..one which would be very difficult to emulate. Taken at a height of 5050 metres! Amazing terrain & a remarkable trek. Those prayer flags and the small stupa adda lot of colour to the landscape. I am at awe with you having taken your laptop to such a high altitude...should have weighed many times more than it's weight. Simply amazing!
With Regards
Angshu

Hisashi: of course, this one takes the gold medal for the day - superb perspective, great wide-angle. Ready for the 5D-Mark II? c

Merhaba Hisashi,

i didn't know horses were ablo to pose for the camera ;)

nice shot, good framing under gloomy weather.

cheers,

Kurtul

Hello Hisashi
Great POV, makes amazing atmosphere, and the ponies look much bigger then they really are :)
Interesting, I love it

Hi Hisashi,
what a fantastic place! The perfect escape from stress and civilisation. One can really feel the mountain air from up there, these mountains dwarf anything we have in Europe!

Hello Hisashi,
What a superb image again, the composition is simply great and so bright. And all this in diffult light conditions and at an altitude where the brain may not work as fast as on the sea shore...
Really oustanding work, all my compliments!
Sorry to hear about your HD, must be a terrible feeling :-(
Have a nice evening.
Best regards, Christian

Hi Hisashi,

This is a very nice shot. The low angle...the colours breaking the monotony of the whiteness, the man in the background and the pack animals. Overall great atmosphere. Congrats.

Sorry about your PC though? Were you able to recover it?

Cheers,
Guru

hello Hisashi,
what a pity to lose your data from your HD crashed!I think that 12 days trek is very long time for me,but as i see you succeeded to 'climb' in the altitude of 5050m,in order to see this superb scene.Excellent snapshot with the two horses and the driver to sit on the ground resting.Well done.

Have a nice week,Danos

What a great atmosphere, this is an invitation to reach the top of the right-hand side mountains...but are 5050 m not enough ?

Hello Hisashi,
I like a lot the mood you caught here, even with a dim light.
Sky is superb, and wide angle place us into the picture elements.
Have a nice day,
JB.

Bonsoir Hisashi
très belle lumière dans cette photo ! j'aime beaucoup la sensation d'espace. Belle utilisation du grand angle.

hi hisashi
despite of the dull light , you have achieved a very moody picture, i remember well the difficulty to reach this pass.
thank for sharing and memory.

best regards
didier

This really has the feel of high altitude, Hisahi. The clouds seem to be very close above, and in the distance, even above you. Everything is a bit exotic--unusual-looking extra-sturdy horses, the simple shrine with prayer flags, the barren landscape. I guess that's not surprising, at over 5000 m! My only suggestions would be to make it a bit less blue overall, and not to cut off the horse's pack at the edge of the frame. But these are minor, it's really a fine shot. Regards, Ken.

Hello Hisashi
Really fascinating. Before having read your note, I was transported in another world. I was not any more completely on earth. And then, I read: 5050m...
There are only some rests of snow, and the life which the people bring by taking animals and colors
Congratulations
Diane

Hello Hisashi:

Dear friend, thank you for visiting my gallery and let me know yours, you have a wonderful series of photographs, I congratulate you.

I liked the composition of this image. Apart from the balanced frame, the scene is dramatic, given local conditions. Beautiful tones, excellent job.

Hi Hisashi,
I looked at the picture and I thought, it looks like the top and of the world; then I read your note and discovered it very nearly is the top of the world.

This is a favorite for me, not only because I will never visit such a place but because you were able to compose such a wonderful photo in such harsh conditions. I love the way the path curves toward the explosion of clouds, I love the way the stupa is framed to echo that curve. The inclusion of the guide and the two horses humanizes the harsh landscape as the three wait with equal calm patience.

...and I thought I took my laptop with me everywhere. I am sorry to hear about your data loss, it is particularly hard to loose such irreplaceable data.

I also read your profile not and strongly agree with with your comments about calibrating monitors.
HLJ, Pat

Such a beautiful atmosphere ! I love the feel and the whole composition, the head of the 3rd horse hidden behind and the peace that emanates from this shot. Bravo !

Wow! The view must be breath taking from this point! Very nice that you've included the man, the animals and all that colours leaved by the visitors. Very nice photo!

Hi Hisashi,
Such a lonely feeling eminating from this shot. Really great use of your wide angle to get the horses and the mountain scene in. A special mood with those looming clouds as well. It looks like an incredible journey up there. Great!

sorry about the lost data, it always feel horrible to realise you've lost your information and your images :( but this photo should serve as at least some compensation. the composition is very good, I like a lot how the mules, the sitting man, the pile of stones form a line that continues in the snow and leads the eye towards the top of the mountain. excellent work, my compliments.

best,
Kristine
