Photographer’s Note
On the way down to Lake Batur, a caldera lake beside a volcano on the eastern side of Bali that has been active since at least 1804. I spent a day or two in the area in 1976 and heard the volcano erupt regularly all the time. During the day only a small cloud of smoke could be seen, but at night time the fire bursting out from the mountain was a spectacular sight. But it was a bit disturbing to hear the windows rattle all night long.
This was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Hello Gert,
This is a lovely scene and a fine composition!
The image is wearing the age very well, but then slides conserve the colours better...
The three ladies and the kid adds what the image needs to come to life!

Hej Gert,
Beautiful landscape, I like the haze over the volcanoshaped mountains in the background. The foreground is excellently sharp it is certainly true that something red adds a lot to a photo, which would otherwise just be blue and green. You´ll here more from us in some weeks...

Hi Gert,
Lovely picture of Indonesia. Splendid composition with caldera and other volcano behind. Active volcanos always made an impression. I was on Pacaya summit in Guatemala, I felt the hot ground and smell of sulphur. I saw also eruptions in Ecuador. Wonderful view of these ladies gracefully wearing the baskets on their head.

Gert, even though there is not much color in this shot it comes across as very dramatic and the landscape as very powerful. It is really a great shot and the not puts it into context nicely.

As if it had been taken yesterday ! Given the fact that this is Bali, I'm not sure that the area has kept the same aspect !
You seem to have had some difficulties with the pine tree on the left which was probably too dark, I don't know what's the best solution except that working meticulously around the various branches - anyway, for me the subject and the general impression matter much more.
A vast view and I'm happy to see these women walking down, a nice photo !

Cath.

Hi again, such a beautiful part of the island. I enjoyed this place, the lake and also the hills around. Nice capture with the ladies and their offerings on their way.

Hello Gert,
amazing why I missed this photo which you posted not long ago? But looking at the date I see that I was away away in Stockholm at that time...
This happened to be a random photo in your gallery and even in the thumbnail it looks very attractive. I very much like such landscape shots of yours. In this case, the photo looks so good (I mean the quality of the scan) that one might think that it was taken in the "digital era" not long ago! Very pleasant, beautiful view and lovely rich colours! I am also impressed by the clouds in the sky :)
Excellent PP work!
Best regards,
Elena
