Photographer's Note

Market is obviously my favourite, an ideal place to people watch and make some memorable shots. This was where I made my stop during my usual early morning photo walk about in Old Surabaya. From a wholesale section dealing with fruits come this tasty chikoo which was in season and plenty in the offing. This highly tasteful, sweet and juicy fruit normally grows less in quantity but the demand is always high. Unlike
temperate fruits, the shelf life is limited to less than a week thus quick turn round is critical.

I loved what i saw - it was partially shaded with soft single light source coming from the left - a suitable condition that I always look for. Those women were busy sorting the grade for distribution to retailers in huge baskets and like most friendly Javanese I met, they were more than happy to have the picture taken without much problem.
