Photographer's Note

I'm not happy with the sharpness in this, or perhaps my standards are just rising? From a scanned print. However, I did like the composition & ambience of this image. No polarizing filter used here. (I did use a pf for another shot, but it merely converted the reflected blue sky to an unattractive muddy brown.) Unsharp mask of .7 @ 100% was used & has improved the image slightly. The woman walking left has a bamboo pole, perhaps to steer ducks?

I recommend anyone going to Jambi uses a telephoto lens, rather than a 28mm wideangle lens. This was a quick grab shot after the tour bus to Besakih agreed to stop briefly for me.

The row of bushy trees on the background slope are clove trees. 'Kretek' or clove cigarettes, are popular in Indonesia.
