From afar Mt. Fuji is a picture perfect volcanic cone but close-up on the crater rim are these souvenir shops and this vending machine.
The Japanese say a wise man climbs Mt. Fuji once, a fool twice. The climbing season only extends for 2 months (July and August) and so we arrived amongst the crowds into the thin air and in time for sunrise.
The Japanese love their vending machines and at 3776 metres this has to be the highest. The wooden poles for sale are trekking poles complete with Japanese flags and anti-bear bells to keep the bears away. |

Very interesting but the colours could be better adjusted... In fact, not so easy to correct ; but as the subject is interesting and the note too, I'll add a mid-tone smiley for the effort and the contribution : TFS !

I've heard of this place, but now your picture makes it real. I've heard there are vending machines that dot the way up the trail.
The volcanic smoke seems to have taken more away from your image though.
