Photographer’s Note
Shot at my hip level.
A lot of workers in China town in kobe are from China/taiwan/vietnam. I heard Kantonese and Mandarine in southern accents. Here she looks quite Southern Asian to my eyes.
Everythings were lightened with red and yellow lamps in stalls, that even made foods looked very nice and yummy. My sister told me that the menu there has been changing a lot and fast, to stand out amongst such a great bunch of stalls. This got me started wondering what menu I have been missing so far.
Anyway, the place is small, the other china town in Yokohama is bigger than one in Kobe, but very interesting place to visit sometimes.

HI Lauryn,
I like your colours and composition and the expression on the woman's face.

Hello Lauryn,
it's a very nice picture, I like the way you have framed the scene, the 2 ads on each corner are very aesthtic and they show us what we can eat at this place, moreover, it smells good !

That is a VERY cool shot, Lauryn, I cannot let it slip by withuot commenting, that is to say congratulating you on a DYNAMIC shot that MOVES, that ZINGS and yes, ZIGS ;o)
This is definiteky one of your better pics ever, there is somethi8ng "engaged" and "committed" about it. If you can take the lessons from this one, and build on it, you will grow and grow...

Lauryn,
I agree with Francis that this one is really special.
I absolutely love the very saturated colours in this photo. And the wonderful thing is that because the real things are so brightly coloured and brilliantly lit (the people, the food in the bottom right corner), it allows these parts of the photo to blend together with the artificial colours of the menu posters, the genuine and the synthetic mixing seamlessly, which gives it a very unified effect overall.
Also the movement of the woman on the right and the rising steam make the photo dynamic, where it could easily have been very static, just a "still life."
Very very nice. (And the food looks good too!)

Hi Lauryn. Very nice to see a new impression from Kobe Chinatown - I like this one even better than the one you previously had shown, it is such a vivid impression of the roadside kitchen with a good rendition of the "steamy" atmosphere and a great expression captured in the woman who is your central character. The tilt gives an additional punch to the photo. Nicely done; greetings from Rotterdam.

great tone in red...makes it seem like such a upbeat/fast paced town.
this scene reminds of chinatown in nyc...altho i'm sure this place is a LOT larger than the one in nyc :)
you get points for creativity as well since you took this one from your hip!

I like your colours and the composition is funny. I almost sent you a critic in french. I don't know why... weird.
Anyway, now I need to edit everything I wrote.
What I like the most is the red colors with the smoke coming up and so thick the second character's face almost disappeared.

Hi Lauryn, An excellent capture of the food service. The lady in the front and the lady behind the steam look like a big poster for the food promotion. You have well caught the mood of the busy, noise and warm environment. This picture made me hungry.

Hi Lauryn,
I havn't been through all of the comments, but I do agree with Francis...this is one of your most engaging shots so far...
This is a true and lively capture of these types of places...I love also, that you shot from the hip, as everything does look quite thrown together, in a pretty orderly fashion...
