Photographer’s Note
"Constructed as the house of German trader G.Thomas in 1909, and famous for the weathercock on the steeple. Designated as a National Important Cultural Property."
This is one of the houses in the Ijinkan (foreing quarter) of Kobe that you can tour. Foreigners were all separated and pushed up onto a mountain away from town. Since these were rich businessmen the houses are amazing blends of Japanese and Western architecture. The view of Kobe is also really beatiful from there. Just get off the train at Sannomiya station and say "Ijinkan." Someone will be happy to point you in the right direction.
I am still learning how to upload so this photo is half the size it should be. I will try again to get the full 200kb as soon as I can.
