Photographer’s Note
During descent into Kumamoto airport we pass to the North of Mount Aso. It is always "smoking" from Naka-dake and on this day I could smell the sulphur fumes.
The 1,592-meter (5,223-foot) volcano is one of Japan's five most active volcanoes. The crater is 18 km from east to west and 24 km from north to south, is not only the world's largest caldera; it is also said to be the most beautiful. Aligned on an east-west axis within the caldera there are five peaks : Kishima-dake, Eboshi-dake, Naka-dake, Taka-dake, and Neko-dake.
On a clear day we can also see nearby Mount Unzen just across the water in Nagasaki Prefecture.

"The earth from above" - that's a wonderful way to observe our globe. It's always a different view and always worth depicting, but sometimes hard to catch on "film" as the atmosphere has a tendency to spread the light. This a very good photo from above, taken toward the sun, and the haze/mist is affecting the visibility. I strongly believe this is how you saw it and maybe that's how you want it. (It's an impressive caldera, by the way!)
If not, it is possible to improve the image a lot and very easy in PhotoShop. I have done so with a couple of shots during take-off and approach, so I'll try a similar workshop here, if you don't mind.
