400th Post - Pretty in Pink Photo

Photographer’s Note

No special photo to mark the 400th image to be posted here, so I've opted for a simple, pure, flashy colours portrait.

Japan was the first country I was dreaming to visit when I was a teenager. Since then, I had the chance to go there by 3 occasions and it's still one of my favourite destination.

This time again, I was tempted to go next to Harajuku Station to see and shoot the Cos-Play-Zoku. But since I wanted to get the best possible light, I arrived past 17h00 and there wasn't any much of them left. And the rare that were still hanging around were whether not very colourful or they were fed up of photographers and just didn't want to be shoot any longer.

Only this character was still accepting to pose, but there was like 12 other serious shooters all in the same pack.

So I just wait for my turn, but from a totally different angle in order to get only the sky as a background, but most importantly, a much better light orientation then from the shooters-cluster.

I sat directly on the ground, my settings ready, waiting for her to give me a look. When she noticed me ready to shoot her, she play the game instinctively and just bend towards me, offering me a pose for only 3 frames, not enough to make me feel sure and comfortable, but it's better than nothing...

Thanks to everyone for your comments over these 3 years and a couple of months. I honestly learned many things on this site and I ow a lot to many members who were more experimented and generous enough to share their knowledge.

Congratulations to #400! This is a very prtetty girl in rather special colours, but these colours make a very harmonic combination!

Salut Andre,

An interesting culture. I imagine this is popular among Japanese teenagers though I am ignorant of this subculture. The details and colours on this image are excellent. You took a chance and ended up with a pretty portrait. Thanks and congrats on this milestone Andre.

Bonjour André,

Voila une photo bien sympa pour feter la 400eme. Elle illumnine par son sourire mon debut de journée plutot morose en attendant de fuir en courant en WE.
Bonne idée d avoir utilisé la contre plongée pour exploiter le ciel. Ca donne une belle touche de couleurs entre le jaune de la veste, le bleu du ciel et le rose des cheveux.
La note est tres interessante. J aurais bien voulu voir une photo du pack de photographe autour du modele, mais je crois que j arrive tres bien a imaginer.

déjà félicitations pour ta 400ième !
elle est vraiment mimi celle-ci, pas vraiment l'idée qu'on se fait d'une japonaise pur sucre!
le piqué de l'image est splendide, la composition sur fond de ciel bleu idéale, bcp de lumière et une harmonie de couleurs dans les tons pastel. on dirait un sucre d'orge

seems like you did a lot of these people shots in the last couple of months and I have to say your latest work in that subject is truly impressive. I missed so many great shot of yours in the 2 months without TE and especially the portraits immediately got my attention. This is truly a nice one, especially because of the strong colors, that actually make a good combination here. Great expression on her face, totally worth all the effort you described in your note. Just the blue sky asbackground works great here to isolate her and draw all the attention to her and to all the loud colors. Beautiful work!

Comme tu peux bien imaginer, Carla est jalouse car pour elle, une visite à Tokyo à l'âge de 6 ans ne compte pas car elle n'aimait ni les Mangas, ni le sushi à l'époque - que Hello Kitty. Au moins elle a compensé avec une visite de Japan Town à San Francisco où il y avait des nanas habillées comme cela. Elle est trop mignonne avec sa péruque rose et veste JAUNE.
Félcitations pour tes 400 belles images et je suis très contente que tu n'aies pas abandonné TE comme certains et certaines.

Just wonderful studio like photo taken against the blue sky. Somehow you managed to make light look soft even on sunlight. And you really captured that short moment when there was charming interaction between the girl and the camera.

Je vois que tes voyages on ete productifs.
Celle-ci est tout droit sortie d'un manga.Un air retro des annes 50 aux USA. En tout cas un superbe portrait.
Je consacrerait un peu plus de temps a parcourir ta galerie , car je n'ai pas envie de le faire a lka va vite.
