Photographer’s Note
The Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is one of the best known birds of prey in the Northern Hemisphere. Like all eagles, it belongs to the family Accipitridae. Once widespread across the Holarctic, it has disappeared from many of the more heavily populated areas. It has a wingspan averaging over 2 m (7 ft) and up to 1 m (3 ft) in body length. (Wikipedia)
In the Middle Asia and Kazakhstan - golden eagle usually trained for falconry. Eagles used to hunt rabbits, foxes, wolves and even goitered gazelle.
the bird is locally known as burkut or berkut.
Foxes are killed outright by the eagles, but due to their size and strength wolves are usually held down while the falconer himself finishes the kill...
As for the place - it's called Charyn.
Charyn Canyon is an 80 km canyon in Kazakhstan on the Charyn River, 200 km east of Almaty, close to the Chinese border.
I'll post pictures dedicated this place later...
thanks to my dear daddy! this is our joint work..=)

Hi Katherine, What a magnificent bird & I like your timing with it eye to eye with the lady, the low POV works nicely, however there is a little overexposure in the shot, still a great photo though, TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Hi Katherine--The low POV and tight crop are great here; the bird's wingspan is so big it goes out of the frame. But the best part is the direct eye contact between the girl (is that you?) and the bird, as if he is lecturing her. He is saying, "You humans, you don't get it, you don't understand how nature works. Now quit interfering, and let me be wild and free. Like Katherine is, with that crazy yarn hair."
Technically, it's a difficult lighting situation with the bright sky, but you handled it very well. Regards, Ken.

Hello Katherine,
Great shot with magnificent eagle displaying his power, and beauty next to beauty.
Once again your angle of view adds to the elements.
Congratulations to you and your Dad,

Very great point of view. The composition is very nice. I really love too see the complicity between animal and human.
