Photographer's Note

Si Phan Don Translated (Four Thousand Islands). In this tranquil river villages, the communities tend to be self sufficient. They farm, mostly rice in the rainy season. They raise live stocks, water buffalos, pigs, chickens, etc. In the dry season, they grow vegetable along river front. Those who have property along the water front, build bungalows along the river to rent out to tourists who come mostly in the dry season, to supplement their income.

Resting on the hammock on the balcony of the bungalow, drinking Beer Lao in the lazy afternoon, you can see locals paddling their boat by fishing or going places and children playing and swimming in the river. In the evening, the older locals taking bath in the river and washing clothes is a typical scene.

This is repost of one that I posted a while back in black and White.
