Sorry that`s not Laos,of course it`s Cambodia!!!!

This is not the perfect foto, the roof is cut,the sky looks bad,it`s more a snapshot and I think good for TE.I like it because of the TV.
Foto is taken from a small boat going to the ferry to Phnom Penh.
The people here are verry poor and everybody lives in swimming houses like this, because of the changing water-level.In this village is also a swimming school and the kids come by boat.
The Tonlé Sap (meaning Large Fresh Water River but more commonly translated as Great Lake) is a combined lake and river system of huge importance to Cambodia. It is the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia and is an ecological hotspot that was designated as an UNESCO biosphere in 1997.
For most of the year the lake is fairly small, around one meter deep and with an area of 2,700 square km. During the monsoon season, however, the Tonle Sap river which connects the lake with the Mekong river reverses its flow. Water is pushed up from the Mekong into the lake, increasing its area to 16,000 square km and its depth to up to nine meters, flooding nearby fields and forests. This provides a perfect breeding ground for fish and makes the Tonle Sap ecosystem one of the most productive inland fisheries in the world, supporting over 3 million people and providing over 75% of Cambodia's annual inland fish catch and 60% of the Cambodians' protein intake. At the end of the rainy season, the flow reverses and the fish are carried downriver.
The receding waters also leave nutrient rich deposits of sediment in the surrounding area creating prime agricultural land for the rest of the year.
The reversal of the Tonle Sap river's flow also acts as a safety valve to prevent flooding further downstream. (wikipedia)

Hello Leo,
I agree with you, it's not the best photo on TE, but it is a very interesting shot. Good testimony wich illustrates your note very well. Well done.
Best regards,
Fabrice

Hi Andreas,
Lovely decisive moment!I really like the selection of old and dirty colours. You get a true feeling of the place.Shame the tip of the roof is cut.Nice composition and sharp and clear.

Hello Leo,
very well captured shot here to this floating house on Tonle Sap. I like the little girl at the window and the TV. It seems to be incredible that the TV is operating in such a conditions.I was there in the same period but I don't remember You...
All the best!

Hallo Andreas!
Danke!
Grüße aus Siegen

Hi Leo, cute daily life shot, the elements of the compo are interesting (girl, TV, house, plants in front of house, boats on the side), quality IMO is good enough but is this Laos or Cambodia?? Regards, Daniel

Hi Andreas,
it's not the best photo in your gallery..but who cares about this roof and sky. Lovely seen shot, nice colours and sharpness! An interesting note!
best regards,
imre

Hi Andreas,

Hi Leo
Never mind the cutoff roof. The central idea to me is the girl beautifully framed in the window & the TV, as if it's another window (to the world?). Very well seen & you've achieved your objective totally
Cheers
Angshu

Hi Andreas,
You call this a snapshot? I prefer to call this a great documentary photo! The floating house with the little girl (or boy) waving to you and the TV like you mentioned, all make this a very good picture. And the colors of the house came out pretty well too. TFS!

Hi Leo,
Your interesting note provides a good critique. I agree that the subject is worth posting, a real daily life shot.

I suppose there was no sun and yet the colours are fine; orange-brown on the walls AND in the water.
May i suggest you to update your data icw Laos/Cambodia?
You can do so within your account with de 'manage'-item.

Personally, I think the photo is overrated by the viewers. Surely, it's a nice location, and not a bad snapshot, but it is small and rather un-telling, IMHO. I think people have rated the note, not the photo - something I find typical here on TE, unfortunately. Especially if the note is taken from Wikipedia...

Ola Andreas que foto interessante desta casa flutuante com flores e televisão, a menina a janela.

Hi Andreas, this is wonderfully captured. Great inclusion of the TV in the flotting house and the child leaning out of the window. Great work. Sothy

Hi Leo,
