[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Climbing to the vat Chom Si temple to admire the sunset over the mekong river and Luang prabang, we had to pay the toll to this novice monk. He playfully accepted my making his portrait.

Bienvenue sur TE Eric. Et félicitations pour cette image soignée. Belle composition, exposition irréprochable, bon usage de la profondeur de champ... On en veut encore!

A beautiful portrait, Eric. The monk`s pose is very attractive and the light on his gold coloured robe is wonderful. Maybe I would crop a little bit from the bottom.

Another wonderful shot. I would only have cropped tighter.

Nice shot! I like the range of colours here, and the high contrasts. The young monk appears serene yet knowing, and the depth of field is spot on - however I find the sunlight in bokeh rather distracting - I'd consider trying something like contrast masking to bring out more detail. I've posted you a Workshop which I hope you'll find interesting! Very well composed - good work :-D

Lovely subject here.

I like the positioning of the shot and the clarity of the picture, excellent.

I hope he is not shaving his eyebrows too

Wonderful combination of colors. Your DOF allows us to focus on the monk yet the blurred background creates an "enlightening" mood. Colors are simply beautiful.

this one is very nice too, great pose and expression again, nice blue and orange colors, a bit dark though, but I don't mind it much.. nice!
you took a lot of nice pictures in Laos, I really should go there!

Was he bored? I like his sly smile! Nice colors!

A well taken photograph Eric. By including the front you also create RGB (in this case Orang-Green-Blue)... :)
I also liked the "portrait" style by AdrianW, but the original leaves more thoughts. I can see a small history of buddhism by the sark face of the novice (short time practicing the "good path", and the bright background symbolising where he's supposed to struggle towards... In such a story it might have worked even better with the subject not posing like a portrait.

It works!

Terje
