[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Yesterday, I posted a self-portrait in TL and it was a heavily post-processed one. Today, this "self-portrait" is genuine. I have no other choice.

Children or babies, all over the world, have one thing in common: they never lie. They smile when they-re happy, they cry when they're sad. Their EYES reflect what they see with such amazing clarity. They are the best mirrors one can have.

I saw this baby at the Luang Prabang night market and when I smiled at him, he continued staring at me with such intensity. I asked the mother if I could photograph him. The answer was "yes". I clicked and clicked and clicked.... The baby never gave up "posing" for me.

Luang Prabang is truly a very friendly place. It is too much to say that even this baby is friendly to me BUT somehow, there is some truth on it. Call it "observational learning". As very effective mirrors, they observe very closely and they imitate.

PP: Converted to sepia, USM.

Very nice and soulful portrait (of the baby I mean!). The close crop is good.

Very Nice portrait,I also like the tight crop on his face and His beautiful eyes.

Great shot and intersting thoughtful note.

Well, yes, I can see you in this one. His eyes are beautiful. I like the tight crop on his face and also the sepia conversion. There is (again) a slight overexposed part on his nose and face (to the left. You could have fixed that in your pp. Well done Manuel.

Your portraits are always showing emotions, Manuel, and this one is a special example of that.
This eye has so much intensity, it's impressive and I am really touched.
The PP in sepia is particularly excellent.
Great work !

Superb dof & clarity.

Yes, his eyes yre crystal clear, Manny, just unbelievable. You're now at a point where you just naturally find exactly the kind of PP to arrive at the best presentation - like the way you cropped this one and decided to do the sepia conversion. Again your already great photo is elevated by your considerate notes. Very good work.

eyes are and will always be the window to our souls...This is my problem too , since one can read all about me in my eyes,as i am often told... difficult position to stand when someone is really bugging you and you are trying to keep a flat face;-)) lol LOL this is excellent manny;-) glad we could see the real handsome you yesterday--) because you are hardly distinguishible here... the baby takes the winning ticket;-) incredible crop and baby's expression... congrats again!

Magnifique portrait plein d'émotion, quel merveille regard candide , jusqu'a quand gardera-t-il cette candeur.

Splendid portrait full with emotion, which wonder ingenuous glance, until A when it keeps this frankness.

je préfère cet auto-portrait au précédent :-)
c'est une superbe photo, les yeux sont magnifiques, j'aime beaucoup la lumière qui éclaire son visage. bravo

Wonderful portrait, the reflection in the eyes is beautiful and the emotional aspect is very, very strong here. Lovely expression, tight crop, really lovely captured. Thanks for sharing Manuel.

Beautiful eyes and a great intense look he has, and yes, you're there as well. Terrific off-centre tight crop and I love the choice of sepia for this.

Great eyes and with that reflection. Great baby portrait and of course with the most natural posing...

A Manny classic, tightly cropped, off-centered child with expressive eyes. Perfect and spot on in B&W.

Great sharpness of this fine portrait and selfprotrait - Great work to watch as usual Manuel - the sepia gives a special touch.

Hi Manny, actually, I should still stay away from TE, at least from writing crits, but this is a hit. Somehow, there's so much tenderness and innocence between you and this kid, that it's just jumping off my screen. It's really a lovely pic. Great work, Manny! Pure and tender!

Top imaging, the clarity of the skin and eyes, the reflection of the photographer on his pupils...fascinating result, well done!

Regards

It is a pleasure to see such a cute and beautiful portrait! congratulations.

Ohhh, this is one I missed, it's always a bit annoying commenting on something when everyone has already said it all, that's what i get for being late :o)
I'll just quote A. Einstein, physician who knew what it was all about :
"Not everything that can be counted counts - not everything that counts can be counted"
It's a bit cheesy, bu he's right, what you felt here was so special and I thank you for sharing it.

I like your and Gal's self-portraits :)...I can see you in his eyes and this is something I first learned with my son's eyes...
Gal wrote patches of overexposure can be fixed in pp..I find it very difficult sometimes (ares around get burnt even if I apply several crops)..please also teach me if you know a good way to do this...

Excellent work. Wonderful portrait. The innocent expression of the baby is well captured. He seems to open his heart to you through his eyes. Well framed. Well done.

Very beautiful portrait. The kid has a beatiful black eyes, very expressives. The colour is great, a Little oversposed in the face, but it´s so charming ! :)
Very well done Manny!

An absolute realisation. A must. Congratulation.

Hello Manuel,
This is a very clear shot with a interesting way of a self portrait. You are very talented in taking portraits of people which needs strong communication skills which you must be very good on, like your photography.

Hi Manuel,

Great shot and intersting thoughtful note...
