Photographer’s Note
From www.duneguide.com
"The Gobi, which is about about 1,000 miles in extent from east to west and about about 600 miles from north to south, has a total area of 500,000 square miles. The Gobi is the world's largest cold winter desert, made up mostly of mountains, rocks, grasslands, salt flats and sand dunes."
Shown here, are camels taken early morning, at Khongoryn Els, or the 'singing' sandhills. (The wind makes a strange noise, when blowing the sand around.)
"These dunes are 20 km wide, and 100-450 km long, and up to 800 m high. Individual dunes reach heights of up to 30 m. Mongolia 's largest sand dunes."
I tried climbing them, but only made it 2/3 of the way up. I didn't want to have a heart attack with the nearest hospital 2 days away!
More info on the Gobi / Gurvansaikhan national park here:
This is a link to Wikipedia
The camels are 'Bactrian' or 2 humped, in contrast to the Dromedary or one humped camels, of West Asia & Australia. I was surprised to learn that most Mongolian camels are not wild, but domesticated, hence the enclosure & reins.

This is another variety of 2 humped camels than the ones that I used to see in central Asia, with shorter and lighter hair : very interesting, I like your front camel - beautiful and delicate colours as usual
(the only thing here : the wires are a bit distracting, although in a way, informative too...)
Have a good WE,

Hello Chris,
I see we both have pictures of camels today, though yours are in a more natural environment. Good composition that puts the animals in their proper context. Good colours and sharpness.

Olá Chris, funny detail on the note about your attempt to climb the dunes :) You should share with us a shot of that adventure, even if in WS ;-) You continue to fill up the empty places of the world in TE and that's great. Nice atractive image of the remote Gobi with a pleasant combination of soft colors. This closer friend makes a perfect FG and I like the sight of the dunes in the horizon.
Um abraço,

Hello Chris. Your beautiful photo shows us strange a world far away from our culture and way of life. One gets an impression of this country, - and this landscape. A good photo also for Trekearth. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Very interesting - in this we not only have the grand landscape, but we can also see the culture through the camels, and also they add a definite sense of life. I like the low angle of light too, which shows everything in shape relief. Well done!

Hi Chris,
Here they are, "true" camels (two humped), in their characteristic careless pose. Quite a lovely family portrait in a scenic desolated landscape. The clarity and colours are gorgeous and the POV very well chosen.
Regards, José.

Hello Chris,
What a fine collection of camels!
I guess the one outside the fence is the one you're using to cross the Gobi...
Amazing light and fine details!

Bonjour Chris,
une photo bien sympathique de ces véhicules naturels. Des lumières un rien trop fortes qui semblent un peu laver les couleurs.
C'est bien cadré.
Regards from Belgium.

Hi Chris,
this is very nice. The total impression just takes me and keeps me in bonds. Wonderful view to the front camel and good closure with the line of hills below that blue. Very nice brown-green, brown-blue.

Hi Chris
Again I will write this what I write here seeing a camel:)
Camels are my weakness, so I have to give you points...at least for these cute animals:) (joking) Incredible, lonely place, well shown.

Namaste Chris
30 metres high sand dunes! Excellent picture of these twin humped camels in their fenced enclosure. The BG of the dunes under the pure blue sky is very attractive.

Great picture
Has many layers as a photograph, from your foreground camel, the camels fenced in and through to the dunes in the background.
