Photographer’s Note
Yolyn Am is Mongolian for 'Vultures Beak', which is the shape that this gorge resembles, from certain angles. I liked the natural perspective here, & the saturation from the polarizing filter. It is an incredible sight to see the 10 metre thick ice in this canyon, in the middle of the Gobi Desert, in summer.

Good illustration of the barren landscape, Chris. The path on the ground helps to lead the eye towards the gorge, and the contrasting vivid colors make for a pleasant viewing overall. Hope all is well.

Hi Chris,
Very impressive place ! The composition is perfectly done, we want to walk on the foot path and enter in this narrow valley. Great colours, good exposure and excellent sharpness, that's a very good picture.

Olivier

Hello Chris,
This is a very lovely picture, great landscape image.
Splendid with the "V" form between the mountains, also the both sides with green vegetation on the slope make this picture nice and attractive.
Lovely picture my friend, TFS.
Bes regards,
John.

Hi Chris.
You made good use of that natural perspective, with so many lines converging on a point left of centre. Everything in Mongolia seems huge, deserted, silent and suggestive of emptiness, although throw in a few gum trees and take the green out of the grass and this could be somewhere in Australia, perhaps. The shot makes one wonder what lies beyond; that track must be very narrow indeed once it gets into that tight looking 'V'.

Andrew

I can see the vultures wings in the V of the canyon but can't find his beak. ;D The V works very well in the composition and your POV enhances that by the placement of the track to lead us through the image.

Salut Chris,
Des gorges qui semblent être un véritable guet-apens pour voyageurs imprudents ;o)
L'endroit est désertique quoique un peu vert à l'époque. Mais point d'arbre !
Merci pour ce récit de voyage.

Despite the fact that there are no structures, the path marks and the ground covers give the interesting perspective that leads to the canyon. A good example of the vast open land in Mongolia.
I would prefer more richer colors and slightly higher contrast, so I tried it out in the Workshop.

Hi Chris,
the blue in that gorge looks a bit like the wings of a bird. Wonderful textures on the rocks and good clarity. The pathway takes me eye and what is behind the curve? Ice, on hot summer days not so bad.

Bonsoir,

hello Chris
This is amazing landscape like a 'pass' and this capture in bright light really shows fine sharp details of texture on rock faces.
How did you reach this place, by car or horse back?

These vast areas, almost wild with pure air, make us dream : what is there behind the corner ? The gorge has a severe aspect, I like it and wish I could see it one day !

Cath.
