Horses at Jankhai Photo

Photographer’s Note

Lake Khovsgol is north west of the capital, Ulan Bator & quite close to the Russian border. It's frozen solid in winter & trucks drive across the ice both ways between the 2 countries.

Taken at Jankhai, a gorgeous promontory, jutting out into nthe lake. These horses belong to the local Mongolian inhabitants who reside in their gers about 1 km away.

A nice capture of these horses against a pleasing backdrop. Good point of view with the grey gravel providing a nice lead-line. Appealing soft colours and good clarity.

The scenery is beautiful and add the horses brought to graze and drink you have a winner. Interesting how the swirl of the gravel leads into the lake between the horses. Well done

Hello Chris,
Traditionally horses were probably one of the two most important animals in this area... for all I know they still are!
this is a peaceful scenery as they graze and drink on the shores of this lovely lake...
