An impromptu stop, when my 4x4 vehicle became bogged. Taken somewhere near Great White Lake (Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur), within the ancient caldera of Khorgo Uul Volcano, (about 100 km away), from this remote location.

It's actually in Arkhangai Aimag, (province) but that doesn't yet appear in the drop down menu. Or is North Hangay the anglicised version?

Hello Chris,
A lovely verdant landscape. Great depth and nice reflection in the pool of water.

Lovely landscape. Must be a really impressive place to visit. Nice composition.

I assume it is a scan because the quality of the grain could be improved a bit.

Thanks for sharing!

MeAT :)

Good to see you back Chris. I had to laugh at the "impromptu stop". Here you are stuck in the mud so you take out your camera. It reminds me of the "Hamlet" advert ;D.
You positioned yourself well to take advantage of the cloud reflection. Those hills seem to disappear into infinity.

Hi Chris,
Welcome back! Nice one here, a peaceful atmosphere, with nice green hills and smooth landscape.
The reflexion in the pothole look great, and remind us to transform negative(4X4 bogged) into positive (a nice picture).. given the track condition, seems pretty easy to meet some mechanical trouble along the way !
Greetings
Laurent

Hi Chris,
Lovely green landscape this time.
Just an extensive plain I could imaging for the horses of Dzjengis Khan.
Nice mirror in the green.

Hi Chris

Hi Chris,
excellent POV and compo. Ideal landscape. It's a bit light on the upper side, but a great scenery.

Hola Chris.
Great shot with the green valley taking your eyes to the beautiful hills, good depth. Very good reflection and colors. Well done.
Best regards.

Hi Chris. Puddle?? Are you sure this is not the Great White Lake ;-). Great photo. You have captured the beautiful conditions well. Well balanced composition with good depth and colour. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Chris,

The composition of this is good taking advantage of the 'puddle' in the road to provide the reflection in the foreground - the shape is like a reverse image of the shape of the hills, so it makes the photograph feel well balanced. Taking photographs on the steppes is hard because so often there is nothing that you can find to add foreground interest so you've done well here. The technical quality of this scan though is not as good as some of your others that you have posted as it lacks sharpness. Do you have a CPL filter for your Pentax lens? I think that would have brought the clouds out better and improved the saturation of the sky as well.

Cheers . . . David

PS: Yes, you are right, North Hangay is an anglicised version of Arkhangai. There are many different ways to translate the name of Mongolian provinces from their modified cyrillic alphabet - that's why you also see this province spelt as Arhangay, Alahangai, and Ara Hangay - confusing huh!
