Photographer’s Note
Taken in the western Gobi Desert of Mongolia. There is really no nearby town.
I was on a exploration team looking for copper and gold. We were dropped off by helicopter and head off walking on a compass bearing for a few hours looking at the rocks. Then meet back at the helecopter before moving on the next site. The sand hills in the background are about 5kms away.
Desolate, but I found it quite beautiful. I thought I felt at home in the jungles of Indonesia where I worked for 13 years, but it was nothing to what I felt in the Gobi.
