The stark beauty of the Gobi, truly one of the world's great deserts. After living in Korea for a year, it was refreshing to see wide open spaces like this, without the slightest hint of any human interference, such as powerlines, freeways etc.

Hi Chris,

after one year with total human interference it really must have been a relief! I especially like the line of the valley with the green plants that leads to the more mountain like part of the desert. The colour of the sky is wonderful. Thank you for sharing!

Best regards
Harriet

This is truly beautiful place, as you said, with very wide open views without anything to distract. Your picture is simply superb in conveying that feeling. Well done.
Antonio

Hello Chris,
A good composition of the forbidding landscape. The dried up river bed is well placed and helps draw the eyes towards the distant mountains. I like the tonal contrasts between desert and sky. Excellent clarity.

Hi Chris,

Beautifull desert view..
Fine tones.
Excellent lights.
All the best.

Yes, I know what you mean, Chris. I just came from 5 weeks in contact with real deserts (for the first time in my life) and I can only imagine what this one must be. A simple composition showing the imense space. I can feel the absolut silence.

visiting a desert must be a great experience, interesting POV here, it's near to be oversharpened but still appreciable

Hello Chris,

A desert picture have always something specially.
The diagonal line in the vally together with the very a few vegetation make this image very well.
Also the relief of the mountains in backgound are nice.
Very well done.

Have a nice sunday,
John.

Hi Chris!

This looks like the most wild, the most inhospitable place on Earth! You have captured all the "aridness" and with these warm colours gave to us a feeling of unbearable heat! Congratulations!

Hercules

Hi Chris,

Hello Chris
The feeling of vastness here is well conveyed and I believe, sometimes it's good for the mind to be far from the 'civilization'!
Cheers

Hi Chris,
Deserts are really unique and amazing places. Many persons only discover how fascinating they are when they visit them. In my case, I was already fascinated by the deserts, but I wasn't prepared for the experience of being in one. I think you did a great capture here, I feel I can understand perfectly what you say in your note about the stark beauty and about being refreshing (quite an unusual for a Northern hemisphere desert in June) see the wide open space completely empty of almost everything but dirt, rocks and some little resistant grass.
TFS, Regards, José.
