Photographer's Note

It is said that King Dhammazedi, the 16th King of the Hanthawaddy Pegu Kingdom, and who ruled from 1471 - 1492 CE, installed this bell on the southeast corner of the main platform. He had it inscribed with runes that may still be seen, even though they are illegible. This bell should not be confused with the Great Bell of Dhammazedi that still lies at the bottom of the Yangon/Bago River, removed from the Shwedagon Pagoda in Rangoon.
