[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
The most important Buddhist monasteries in Yangon have now been occupied by the army. Monks can therefore no longer go out to demonstrate against the military junta.
People did attempt to demonstrate today, but army and police acted fast and hunted the crowd apart. The district where the demonstrators had collected has been closed. "There has not been any shooting today" and one can only hope this is a truth, but we will have to take into account that this is "official information from the regime.

It also appears that the authorities have blocked access to the internet. The web played until now an important role in spreading news about the protests in Burma. It is clear that no more information is supposed to leave the country as otherwise we might find out what is really going on in this country.

The Australian ambassador, Bob Davis, confirms what we all have feared. The official information from the regime saying that up till now 9 people have been killed would unfortunately be an underestimation. The ambassador says that the figure of deadly victims is tens of times higher according to witnesses.

The Burmese people are waiting since too long for a political change in their beautiful country.
The Burmese people are waiting for freedom, something we consider so natural we sometimes do not even realise we have it.
The Burmese people are waiting for human rights that people should not be deprived off.
The Burmese people are waiting…

I fine daily life image Sabine even more poignant at his moment.
As you say the internet is now alll but sealed off for the Burmese - and I am afraid with that if the monks stop marching and only the civilians take to the street, the story will not domniate world news as it has this week.
I just came across this blog written this morning:

"Now all the internet connections and phone lines are cut. The government worries that we will send evidence of their terrible acts to the outside world. Our people are sad and angry with this government. We are all suffering from their terrible rule. But we don't have the capacity to do anything against them. If we do something, we will be killed and our families will suffer. We don't have any choice, because we are born in Myanmar (Burma). We know it will be over one day. We only wish this day will come soon."

Hi Sabine. This is really fine diagonal composition with some smart elements. Superb note, as well.
Regards.

Ciao Sabine,
as usual your notes are just perfect and incisive. I'm following the situation too and really I'm wondering if we can do more...
Love your image too... the early morning mood and composition.
A smile
Luca

Dag Sabine,

Luc.

And we watch them waiting... can go on for decades like this. Beautiful scene it must have been, I bet, and we guess the line was very long.
