I like the way he is wearing his typical hat at a rakish angle, which is at odds with the shy look on his face. Very good portrait and conversion.

c'est un très joli portrait,très bien cadré!J'apprécie en effet de voir la main de l'homme tenant une rame,ce qui nous montre son activité,et explique pourquoi il ne te regardait pas!Peut-être ne s'est-il même pas aperçu que tu l'avais photographié.J'aime son regard lointain et pensif ainsi que son demi-sourire!J'aime aussi le contraste entre la chemise moderne et le chapeau traditionel!La faible profondeur de champs permet de deviner ce qu'il y a derrière lui ,sans que cela perturbe le portrait!

Hi Didier,

I was critiquing another portrait sometime ago and saying that the most important thing is to get a natural smile/look from the subject. That's what you get here. I like the fact he's not looking at you too. The option for the b&w is very suitable to the purpose of the shot. Very well done!

Un bon portrait rapproche de ce rameur du lac.... La conversion est bien rendue et il se detache bien sur le fond en bokeh...
J'y etais il ya peu et je dois dire que j ai ete supris par le nombre de touristes... un peu decu aussi, mais c est quand meme tres beau!

Comme les autres, je trouve que sa main, avec la rame, ajoute un plus dans ta composition.

Although I don't prefer portrait photography I have to admit that you did a good job here capturing this.
Great choice of black and white, but the DOF is perfect bringing the subject in front perfectly focused.

Le N/B convient bien à ce portrait bien sympathique...On a l'impression qu'il ne te voit pas, mais son sourire nous prouve le contraire..
Oui, il y a pas mal de touristes au lac, mais nous y étions (cette année) à une période ou il n'y en avait pas trop...et puis c'est sur que les locaux en ont besoin...
L'année dernière nous étions en même temps que toi au Myanmar et on aurait presque pu se rencontrer...ce qui aurait été sympa ;D

I am no great fan of black and white but this portrait is very good taken.
