The spirit of the blues is alive in South-East Asia. In the Mekong delta you can hear blind guitar players trying to earn some bucks on noisy ferries and in rowdy restaurants. Just like in the days of Blind Lemon Jefferson in the American South they are usually accompanied by a little boy who is picking up the tricks of the trade and keeping an eye on the money.
This picture was taken in Bagan in northern Myanmar, or Upper Burma, as it used to be called, pronounced locally as something like 'appabumma'.
Sweet Home Appabumma?
No it isn't...and this is why...
"No food on my table,
no shoes to go on my feet,
No food on my table and
no shoes to go on my feet,
My children cry for mercy,
Lord they ain't got no place
to call their own."
- John Lee Hooker, "No Shoes" (1960)
---
These street musicians are a dying breed.
How I wished I had a recorder...
Did anyone mention Ry Cooder?

Hi Benny!
Very interesting scene. Original work. Nice light and colors. Good shot.
TFS!
Benny: over-sharpened (something I too am frequently guilty of, but subject matter is spot. Fine regards, and a good note. best, c
Hi Benny
A great scan of a street scene even if it is a little over sharpened. Interesting notes.
