the hillsides are very steep and the terracing extends a long way..in places right down to the river

It always amazes me how people can work these steep and relatively small terraces. The patchwork that you show us here is amazing in itself and brings on a touch of vertigo! Good composition with the inclusion of the village that helps put the situation in context.

Incredible! How much effort and expertise are shown in this picture! Your photo shows very well the extend of these terraces. An important picture which should make us a bit less arrogant concerning our "western" accomplishments...

Very nice scenery Dear Geof! Though it looks a little sad because of the large areas without trees, the colors, light and angle of the photo is amazing.
