Thanks everyone for your warm reception of my first post of Nepal. Here's the second one...

As I was walking outside of our hotel on my first early morning in Nepal, I saw this dignified looking man smoking a cigar. I inched closer, smiled at him and asked if I could take apicture of him. He smiled back and nodded. This was among my first portraits in Nepal. I started on the right foot. I built a solid ground and firm impression that Nepalese people are very friendly. I am correct.

I will catch up with you guys later...

Beautifully lit shot Manny and a perfect (Hamlet) moment - a really nice portrait making full use of the smoke and how this is related to his personality! bravo! nice light and composition.

best wishes Kev

A splendid shot Mannuel...
I like his gaze and the smoke going out from his mouth.
Great colors too.
Well done.
Alex

You've reached such an expertise with your post processing. Just came across someone called Roubos in Pbase who has got some secrets from you, that's for sure. Beautiful. This series in Tibet seems to be among your best ever.

Wow Manuel, i'm expecting to see some of those lifetime shoots :) well, this one could perfectly be one of those i believe, everything is perfect... and perfect is a strong word.

Well, i must say almost perfect, there's some noise on the smoke ;)

Mario

I love this portait... So beautifull ! Very many details. Quiet and serene seems to be this man, looking at you with such a look ! Deep soul in your picture ! TFS

Hi Manuel,
you're really a great portrait photographer.
I really like his pose very natural, I like the smoke.
I like this light with strong contrast.
Well done

What beautiful light! You posed him (or maybe he just happened to be sitting) ideally relative to the available light. It shows just enough to make the details like skin texture clear, while retaining strong shadows and an air of mystery. Really well done, excellent image! Regards, Ken.

Hi Manuel.
Quel portait....incroyable !
Ces teintes, cette lumière et ce contraste, cette attitude, ce regard, la fumée qui sort de sa bouche...tout est là !
Bravo, très belle prise.

Amazing use of the light, it gives so much drama to have lighting like this. The smoke as well, and the bits that need it are so sharp. I love it
cheers, David

Beautiful shot,it's so expressive!
I really love your photos.

Hi Manny
I find this to be quite an unusual portrait. He seems so nochalant in the way he is blowing out the smoke, almost as if he's blowing it in the face of the viewer. Beautiful colours and tones. Good catch.
Regards
Sarah

A nice one from your recent Nepal trip, Manny. I remember one of your classic photos where the smoke was also a crucial element of the portrait you had made then. This is good for the way in which you dealt with the harsh light, and for the intense gaze that is shown behind the cloud of smoke. The crop is very tight but works quite well.

very nice portrait Manuel, great pose of the man, good composition. however, the post-processing is a bit too strong for my taste, too much contrast and sharpening, it is a very nice photo, but I'd prefer a bit more subtle post-processing

yesss another one ,o)
i was waiting to see your second pics
frop Nepal and like the previous this one is great
love this strong contrast
he seems so proud posing for you
i alway enjoyed taking picture from smoking people.

I have seen best ever portraits from you in TE and this is one more addition to that, the expression of the person is very diif and the smoke has a very beautiful effect in this picture. One more FAV from you in my list.

Wow...without the smoke this would be a fantastic shot...but with the smoke you've made it even better.
The light is balancing with the shadows so nicely and you're composition is great.
Just a wonderful feel brought about by the post processing which is subtle yet effective.
Super sharp too!
Excellent work manny...always a pleasure to view your work.

Hi,
Great moment...good expression, good colors...

Nuno.

another successful portrait.. I like how you often crop part of the subject to get down to the essential part of the photo, which here is the hand, the smoke and eyes
