"Magic Light In Chitwan"

At the foot of the Himalayas, Chitwan is one of the few remaining undisturbed vestiges of the Terai region, which formerly extended over the foothills of Nepal. It has a particularly rich flora and fauna. One of the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros lives in the park, which is also one of the last refuges of the Bengal tiger.

Royal Chitwan National Park (RCNP), covering an area of 932 km², is the oldest national park of Nepal. Established in 1973, it was granted the status of a World Heritage Site in 1984. The RCNP is located at the foot of the Himalayas in the Terai region, and the park is rich in flora and fauna, which include the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros and the Bengal tiger.
The area used to be known as the Chitwan Valley. It was a place for big game hunting and until 1950 it was a hunting reserve. At the park there is canoeing, elephant rides, and guided jungle walks.

I took this picture 10 min before sunset.
The light was magic, really amazing. The kids were laughing about me, the big tall guy with his camera.
The Fuji Velvia 50 does the rest.......deep saturated colours.
Hope you like it.

Any comment is more than welcome..!!!

Hi Henk, A beautiful light indeed - magical even I would say. The colours are so splendid as well and the different expressions of each of the children are a delight. Very interesting DOF as well. A more than enjoyable shot! Sabine

This really looks like magic light Henk, very well composed and perfectly captured expressions and colors. The kid on the back is in shadows but I think it looks good because he is looking to another place. It's a lovely picture. Tali

Amazing colours you have captured here, Henk - and how lucky that you just met these cute children - ready for a perfect shot! The background is also really good. One of those shots that looks good on the wall :)

So good!!

:) Tina

Hello Henk,
Amazing light and colors, the quality scan is great.
Nice compo too.
Congrats,
Oscar

Hi Henk, magical light indeed, almost blue but still the golden hour, really wonderful light. The other colors are beautiful as well, the red people in the background, and the blue mountains and the sky. What I like so much are the toes that are in the light, funny!

I saw Viviane already informed you about the windmill war because of your yesterday’s post. I think you would have been a very good ally!

Did you know we are organizing a TE meeting in May? Not only for people from the Netherlands but from everywhere? Maybe you are interested too, check it out here and here.

Hello Henk,

Really nice light. The kind of light, Alex Webb used to work on, Lovely expression in a lovely BG.

Mooi resultaat Henk, je ziet goed het opkomend zonlicht. Prachtige volle kleuren.
De rechtse lijkt mij nog niet goed wakker te zijn. De fotograaf gelukkig wel!

This is pretty special! Excellent colours, very deep blues in the background/sky. Great depth of field throughout the image. The light is really good here.

A truly wonderful shot, that I have put in my favourites. The light is astounding, and so is the smile on the tallest boy's face.

hallo Henk, mooi plaatje in mooi land.

MOOI! tfs arnoud

Startling.
An amazing shot. Absolutely perfect.

Hmmm, you don't have any new pictures in your gallery, so I started to travel around in your vast world of photography. I have been in Nepal and the Sagarmatha region too, but not to the Chitwan Valley. With all your detailed descriptions of the fauna I was expecting some picutre of a tiger or a single-horned rhino. Maybe that is something for TrekNature and would be certainly a cliche. Your present picture is beyond that! The light nad colors are almost magic and with all the poverty that is there it also shows the joy and blast that these kids can have. "Big guy with camera" or guy with big camera? How much PP did you do to get the endresult?
Kind Regards, Peter

unbelievably fantastic light ! bright fg and dark bg thats really stunning ! such good sharpness in ur pic ! fantastic

dan

Hello Henk,
Magic light indeed! This fabulous image remains for a long time in my mind. Also your technical skill that get this color out from the positive film, is really accomplished.
Have a nice day, Hisashi

and now i'm laughing at you too. or laughing at them or even better at the whole scenery
i can see it you know! big tall guy with a camera ;o)
i keep liking more and more these older photos of yours on velvia. light was magic indeed.
and so much more beautiful bokeh. so much more appealing 3D sensation. and speaking colors.
so much more alive!
... have a great day yourself (and some champagne) ;o)
(it's nice and sunny here, just as it should be ;o))
