[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Very close to the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, you can find Pashpatinath, the holliest place for Nepali Hindus, and maybe the most sacred for Hindus in general, after Varanasi and the Ganges. In fact Pahpatinath is a small Varanasi and the river called Bagmati is a small Ganges. You can watch here hundreds of cremations each day. If someone dies and gets cremated here, is supposed to be liberated from from the eternal circle of reincarnations and finds the total salvation. There are special places for the pyres depending on someone's social status. Some years ago almost the whole Nepali Royal family was cremated there when a prince killed all his family, leaving only one of his brothers (the current king) alive. That day has left its marks to all Nepali people but noone wants to talk about it.

PS. I have a photo (for me one of the most interesting i have taken) from a cremation, just the moment when the flames start to "devour" a dead man's body and the smoke rising up is the closest thing i've ever seen to what the human soul could "look" like. I would like your opinion. Should I upload it, or it would be too "hard"?

Hola Hercules,
