I recently spent a few weeks vacation in Nepal. This shot of Machhapuchhare, meaning "Fish Tail", was taken early in the morning from Pokhara. Fish Tail is one of the most majestic looking mountains in all of Nepal. The view from Pokhara is especially stunning because of the mountain's proximity to the town (25km) and the drastic difference in elevation (7000m compared to 800m!).
"Machapuchare has never been climbed to its summit. The first, and only known, attempt was in 1957 by a British team led by Jimmy Roberts. They climbed to within 50m of the summit via the North Ridge, but did not complete the ascent; they had promised not to set foot on the actual summit. Since then, the mountain has been declared sacred, and it is now forbidden to climbers." (excerpt from Wikipedia)
*view workshop to see another angle of the mountain and the second peak which gives it the name "Fish Tail". |

Thats a fabulous B/W photo, the relief stands out really well.
Incredible shot! It almost looks fake, but it isn't :-P Beautiful picture, I like the composition of the majestuous mountains in the back and the silhouette in front of it!
Greetings,
Thomas

Hallo James!
An outstanding picture of an outstanding mountain. For my taste perfect in all respects. I think, one cannot show the majesty of this peak in a better way. A great photo!
Greetings from Germany!

Wow, what a stunning view of this beautiful and spectacular mountain. It's amazing, and your note adds to the photograph: the fact that nobody has - and perhaps nobody will - climb this mountain appeals to me. I like the fact that there are still some corners of this world unmarked by humans.
Well taken

Hello James. A classic shot of this beautiful mountain. Unusual to see it in black and white, a bold choice but it works well. Good stuff.
extraordinary shot..overtime..
bye Giannino
It has to be one of the most majectic mountains anywhere. Very nice.
