Salut Vincent,

Qu’est-ce qu’elles ont à compter ainsi... C’est pas difficile, il y a une demi-douzaine d’oiseaux, ça prend pas quatre paires de jointures pour les dénombrer! LOL!

Superbe chance que de tomber sur ces calculatrices monochromes! Ce fuschia décliné en différentes nuances est extrêmement photogénique et ce détache de cette couleur terreuse omniprésente en Inde et au Népal. La composition est fort réussie, avec les dames légèrement décentrée et cette diagonale qui traverse la photo d’un coin à l’autre.

L’expression de la vieille dame montre à quel point elle est absorbée dans ses calculs et la note complète brillamment la scène.

These two ladies in their burgundy clothing stand out well from the brown background. You have captured a very interesting moment with a nice off centre composition. The pigeons scattered around the scene are great too. Well seen and photographed.

Hello Vincent. The moment and time for this picture are excellent. The purple clad women stand out well againt the colours of the floor. The pigeons add a bit of an ornament to the image and complement the moment well. Well composed image. Thanks :-)

Excellent photo, a nicely captured moment of daily life with the interaction between the two women (and an excellent informative note telling us what's going on)!

I love the composition with the women in focus off-center, framed by the pigeons with added dynamism added by the diagonal line from the pavement.

It strikes me on another level, too: when I saw the thumbnail I immediately thought: "Patan!" But why? I'm not sure. I was prepared to be corrected when clicking through but it turns out I was right. Makes me long to go back and wander around a bit more in Kathmandu Valley.

l'harmonie des couleurs est parfaite, la couleur de la peau est presque la même que celle du sol; un mimetisme totoal; en plus j'ai appris quelquechose sur ce systeme de comptabilité, n'est-ce pas le but premier de TE??

A very interesting note, i did not know this. Seeing the picture and reading the note it all makes sense.
The red against the brown street is very good in contrast, and those pigeons make a nice square composition...well done, i like this a lot.

ce ne sont pas des latines pour parler avec leurs mains mais elles leur font de la concurrence, belle position des ces dames, avec un fond bien flouté et ces pigeons donne un coté sérénité, un cadrage bien choisi, dommage pour le pigeon coupé en bas, on le compte pas et ca fait pas 12

J'aime bien l'atmosphère que dégage cette image avec les deux femmes en train de discuter et de compter paisiblement au milieu des pigeons. Leurs habits donnent une bonne touche de couleur et contrastent bien avec les pierres.

Bonsoir Vincent,
tu nous montres une forme très intéressante de compter, avec une image avec beaucoup de graphisme et dans un cadrage parfait, d'une jolie géométrie des éléments du pavé.
Les deux femmes avec les vêtements de couleurs vifs et les colombes à son côté donnent un grand effet vital sur la composition.

Bonsoir Vincent,

Impréssionant les couleurs des tissus au milieu d¡une tonalité douce et presque monochrome. C'est comme un etude des couleurs. Vraiment intéressant aussi l'expression de la femme agée, et le geste de sa main et, finalement, les six colombes entourant cette belle et calme couple. C'es très jolie, Bravo!

Interesting information you give us today and a very good candid shot of the two women to go with it. I love their red/magenta outfits which contrast beautifully with the background.
I wonder what they were counting. Pigeons? ;D

J'aurais peut être serré un peu plus ou tenté un cadrage carré, mais sinon, ces couleurs, cette netteté et ce visage sont impecs. Et il y a tellement d'expression dans ces yeux et ce sourire, malgré la distance !

Hi Vincent,
The photo would still be much impressive without your note, as that triangle on the floor makes a powerful and nice visual arrangement, much reinforced by the colours and the pigeons, that constitute an alive imaginary frame for the women. Their pose with the hands is also very photogenic.
But I must say that your note adds much interest to it. You sure have a clever eye!

Hello Vincent! Very nice usage of the telephoto lens here. The DOF is perfect here, sharp in front of the woman and slightly blurred behind directing our attention perfectly to the woman's expression facing us. Well done!

Excellent scene, not too strong a light but you have managed well. ood positioning of the subject. I would have considered cropping the two pigeons at the bottom left as that would have left four pigeons in four corners with a kind of symmetry.

Very interesting note that fits so well with the scene that you captured. The moment of counting with the fingers it's funny and very enjoyable. I wonder if they were counting pigeons... :)))))) Excellent composition with good leading lines. Nice original post, Vincent.

We have both been traveling in the same territory, Vincent, so I can relate to these pictures. The women are fused together by the same red. (A colour worn by all married women of their cast, but not by Niwari women, I was told, but women from the hills. If a woman becomes a widow, she has to change the colour.)
I love the way the angled line in the brick roadway and the corner of the stonework platform puts them in such a dramatic position. The pigeons, dotted around also serve to fill the space with interest. Nice DoF too, just right to give importance to the subjects. Ah! The picture brings back to taste of Dal Baht, but I could do without that taste ever again. Regards Kevin

Tu soulèves un point intéressant! Peu de gens remarquent la maniere que les Indiens ont de compter sur leurs doigts en comptant chaque phalange avec le pouce... j avais déjà pensé que le système duodecimal venait de la...Et c'est bien illustré par cette image ou l'on voit bien cette action! Jolies couleurs, bonne diagonale et j aime bien l'expression de la "compteuse"!

An interesting shot & an educative researched note...we do sometimes still involuntarily use the knuckle counting method. The colours are good, despite the lack of light. The diagonal works well. Very well done!

Le calcul qui n'est pas mon fort (je me suis qd même amélioré) c'est peut-être une méthode à appliquer... Scène de vie une fois de plus bien cadrée et bien présentée, j'aime beaucoup la présence de tous ces pigeons leur tenant compagnie. Belles qualités photographiques, les couleurs sont très agréables.
