Even during the cold days of winter, nepalese people really live in the streets where they have so many different occupations. Very often people gather to play games like here in the streets of Bhaktapur in the Kathmandu valley. I do not know the name of this game, I was not able to figure out the rules either. Maybe one TE member does know about it?

Thanks to Angshu we have the answer: the game is called 'Tripass', a gambling game, something similar to the ancient game of Pasha (famous in our epic Mahabharata).

Good daily life street shot Vincent. Very "clear", sharp and detailed. Great color and I especially like the composition and DOF with the ?Ganesh? in the background down the road. Just an all around aesthetically good looking photo.

- I have no idea what they are playing...

Great work.
John

beautiful street shot vincent... i like how they are all concentrated on the game... the blue bars behind makes a good background... my compliments to you...

Real life in the street. Fine group portrait.
Really well done.
Regards!

No need to know the name and/or the rules of the game in order to make a good picture. Your skills and the camera were enough. The POV is great and the colours very good. I like to see the man holding the bag under is feet. Well done.

Salut Vincent
Laurent

Fantastic image, Vincent!
I like the way you've shot such a decisive moment of daily life in this part of the world. The image is very strong technically- clear, good light, excellent POV, etc. and it is wonderful to look at. Nice work.
Sarah

Hi Vincent,
Surely one of your very best from many fine pictures of Nepal. Excellent daily life shot from the streets showing us the ancient surroundings too. I am not sure what game they are playing but these are played on the Indian streets as well often involving money.

Bonjour Vincent

Very nicely taken the natural, everyday scene.
It is always good to see how people on the world spend their time and live.

There is so much interest in this photo. Not only the mysterious (to us) game they are playing, but their clothing and surroundings. The way you have composed it is well thought out too. You focused well on the action yet you left space around and on the right for lots of context. Good work
Kath

hi vincent...
interesting capture of daily life of nepal... these are really the nice moments of daily life...
greetings...

Bonjour Vincent,

Josep

Well look what you can do with a bit of chalk and a load of pebbles! Dare say someone over here would package this up in a bloody great big box and charge you $30-40 dollars, weird really when you think about it just goes to show the level of consumerism and ability to thinK. Same in Africa too, they just make small pits in the ground and use pebbles or seeds.
I like the fact the subjects are off centre and we have a little bit of historic background too. Very nice

Simon

Salut Vincent,
Christian

I also don't know the game, but the scene that you have captured is nice and a true strret life scene, these adults playng on the street like a children are amazing and beautiful, compliments Vincent, you have good eyes.

Hello Vincent,

Very nice daily life picture with the men in full game, exactly a game out of this country, very simple with small stones, but maybe very interesting.
The quality and the clarity ofthis picture is very lovely, very well done.

Have a nice day,
John.

A beauty Vincent, with so much to savour. The interest of the players in the FG playing with stones, a game which is also played in many parts of India, against the brick wall, moving further down to what appears as an old temple...an excellent daily life shot, where the deep DOF helps in the compo.
Regards
Angshu

Salut Vincent,
This is the kind of photo I wish I could take. A perfect capture of daily life activity. It's an excellent photograph by all accounts. But what impresses me the most is your unobtrusive presence, which let you snap this photo with noone looking at the camera. Regards,

Hallo Vincent
Excellent capture of the men playing on the street
interesting the way they dress, and they completely ignored you.
I remember about gambling game in Mahabharata, I hope these men not gambling something precious

Vincent,
J'aime beaucoup,
Bonne soirée,
JB.

Salut Vincent,
Wonderful shot! Well seen and very good capture.
Superb composition, colors and good POV.
Thanks and best regards.
Ahmet

Boys are always boys.
Does not differ whether the age is 7 or 70...
The playful "five" creates a great star shape compo and it is perfectly seen and located in the frame.
I like the use of blue, and the sharp depiction of the worn out texture on the walls. Excellent technique and lovely daily life subject. TFS,
Deniz

hi Vincent,

This is a wonderful picture. Full of action. The people engaged in playing are well captured with the part of street and the temple in the bg. very nice work.

Sayan

This is a fine capture, Vince, they make a perfectly formed group. An artist could not have posed them more perfectly. You have a wonderful even light too, that gives great exposure throughout the frame. I love the way they occupy the left of the frame and those lovely structures fill in behind. This is a really good one, Vince. Regards kevin

Salut Vincent,

Ciao Vincent! thank you for sharing this fantastic street scene! You make me remember that I too posted such a game scene from a village in China! I would like to learn such games, they look funny.

I like the way you capture also the surroundings of the players.
TFS

Livia

I like this street scenes well composed with the playing men with their typical clothings in front aside towards the backdrop in perspective of the rest of the street with the old facades, a very clear photo revealing all the details, lots to see, well captured Vincent.

Hi Vincent, this is the kind of candid daily life shot that trekearth is about. You've captured these men beautifully - they're so absorbed in their game that they don't seem to notice the photographer at all. The blue railings provide some much-needed colour on this cold and grey day. Great photo!
Regards,
Ryno

You've composed this perfectly, Vincent, from an excellent POV that let's us see the detail of the game they are playing (the positioning of the five men couldn't be better). As well, you have included some of the street in the background so that we have a glimpse of some of the old buildings of Bhaktapur, providing excellent context for this ancient game. Good exposure and sharpness too. Cheers . . . David
