| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
The picture is taken one early december morning down by the Bagmati river in Kathmandu. The old lady is taking a rest, while leaning against the load, which she will later be carrying to the market-place.
I like the strange radiant beauty of her wrinkled face and crippled hands, the toughness and roughnes of her frail looking face, and the quiet desperation which eminates from it all.
PP:
The quality of the picture lies in the motive it self, rather than technique or editing. I've darkened the picture a little, and added some more contrast to accentuate the wrinkles and lines in her face. |

Hello Soren!
An intimate moment in which this very old woman is in her thoughts. Nice choice to use bw.
On the other hand, it would really be useful if you would write a note on it.
Welcome to TE!

I love b/w photos. Superb shot.
Hi Soren
Welcome to TE. Really nice vertical comp. What an expression filled portrait of this woman. Very sharp with good detail. Great choice of b&w. Good focus. Well done.
Ben
a really incredible face, and great exposure. i'm thinking you could clone out in photoshop the dried grass over her face. it's not that bad, but just a bit distracting?
