With full regalia and a high secuity presence, Kathmandu's annual holiday of Indra Jatra went ahead last year without incident, and without the king present... Before the the emergence of the living goddess, the Kumari Devi, from her cloister, three gens d'armes break for some hot chai.

ISO at 160 ASA and focal length at 160.0mm.

Hi Caleb,
good to see the police in some places of this planet
still have time to sit down and enjoy a cuppa! Must've been
a rather boring day for them without any incidents.
;-P
I've noticed the one of the left hasn't got a belt over
his shoulder as the other two, and his footware is rather
funky - as if he's going for a safari... or are these
as well part of the usual uniform?
Robi

Hi Caleb,
the laid-back mood of these policemen made your (nice) shot!
A smile is always nice to spot everywhere!
One for you!
Luca

Hi Caleb,
I find this and excellent shot in many ways. First of all, I think the colours are very pleasent and grey background vs. green uniforms works extremely well.
I think all poses are great, too - everyone is a bit different. A lot of interesting details, like one guy wearing different kind of shoes, empty pack of cigarettes on the ground etc.
One of the best travel portraits I've seen in a long time. Well done!
I have to ask you, though - is it really taken with 160mm focal length? It seems much wider to me (especially when counting that 1.6x cropping factor).
Cheers!

Une très bonne qualité et je trouve l'ensemble des couleurs très réussi..c'est l'heure de la pose..

hi Caleb,
as others have noted, lots of interesting details in this shot, but my favourite is the man on the right with the prominent ear :) he perfectly conveys how at ease these men are. superb sharpness and colours, excellent shot.
best,
Kristine

Hi Caleb!
I wish some day all soldiers of this crazy world will have a rest like these having chai or coffe ,with no guns in sight, having a relaxed smalltalk.....sorry I was dreaming.A great shot of these three guys.Great composition and perfect exposure.I love their allways polished boots.

Nice, capture. I find that the textures in here are great: the floor, the wall etc.
Also, their uniforms match very nicely and each of them has a unique expression,
very well done
Regards
Daniel

did they make u pay to enter Durbar square?
the color of the suits comes out very nicely, and they all look so relaxed and friendly. plus, i love the fact that their shoes are casual. iv never seen a policeman or a soldier wearing allstars here =)
cheers

I like the humour in this triple portrait Caleb, with the guy with his averted gaze balanced on either side by the chaps looking straight at you.
Looks to me like you got close with a wide-angle, rather than the tele-zoom like it says in the info.
Nicely done.

Cheers,
Ben
